Can P16V pass 24bit to the DSP?
I've had a look at the P16V info on the main KX page but still a bit confused.
I'm not interested in recording anything so ASIO /WDM is not relevant. I'm also not concerned with 96Khz, only 24/48. What I want to know is, can I plug an analogue source like an acoustic guit with a preamp, through the IS2 codec -> P16V -> DSP and retain 24Bit resoultion? I am getting good signal to the codec but acoustic guitars are very dynamic and a fingerpicked note compared to a hard strum needs lots of headroom. I want to use compression, EQ and drive to get good sustain and smooth out the harshness of the piezo pickups. But imagine a quiet fingerpicked note probably occupies 8 or 9 of the 16 bits, then compression & drive bring up the level but now the quantisation is damn horrible. Getting the full 24bit to the DSP should fix this but I just want to know if it gets downsampled somewhere. |

Actually, the I2S->DSP path is 24-bit by default, no need to bother with P16V.
This is also true for DSP->I2S. Note that 16-bit reduction only takes place when doing PC->DSP->PC transfers. Most of other DSP (_K2_) I/O is 24-bit (with a few exceptions like AC97 and SPDIF In). |

Aha! But is it all at 48 KHz sample rate? Or 44100Hz?

24/48 possible?
What do I need to do to record 24/48 from LineIn/Aux? I have one Audigy4 SB0610 card and latest kx version installed and I would like to be sure that I really record all those 24 bits, not that 16 bits are recorded and the rest filled with zeroes... Can someone tell me where exactly is i2s located in the DSP or what signal path to choose when recording so that 24/48 is really happening?
What about Creative drivers? Do they really offer 24 bit or what? ASIO drivers from creative are named 24/96... |

Thanks, Max. Now all I have to do is figure out a way to record 24 bit sound when capturing video with vdub...

Creative ASIO drivers only work at 16/48 when recording analog!!! The 24/96 ASIO driver is only good when recording from the DIGITAL INPUT.
(I have one Audigy4 SB0610 card) 24/96 recording is possible using the multimedia driver and a professional audio application.Chris Last edited by chris.miller; Aug 13, 2006 at 12:05 PM. |

Recording from WaveHQ does not produce any sound, no matter what input I select. Virtualdub freezes when I select WaveHQ.
