KX Skins problem

Here's the problem:

So I download some of the kx skins from their official site, but they won't work. He says:

Skin version is invalid, error registering skins, wrong file format.
The file format of my skins is kxs, my kx project is Version: 5, 10, 00, 3529

Now what?

Skins aren't yet compatible with 3529... you can search this forum for Brushed alluminum and Creation which work only with 3528. No skins for 3529 yet. Sorry.

Yes, it did, definitly! kez will probably update it for 3530 (hopefully).

"3530 is expected to be released shortly" - according to kX Site.
I know as much as you know... when it's ready probably (there are some bugs that need to be fixed)

Not really.
There is a guide in help and on web page on how to create skins (but it isn't up to date with 3529).
Hope Eugene will be able to tell you more.

kX skins (extension .KXS) are archive files and can be opened with winZIP or winRAR.

It basically boils down to creating your own replacement images and modifying the INI found within the skin archive as needed (but read the skins info at the kX project website too).

p.s. Skins developed for 3529 and older revisions may not be 100% compatible with 3530, so it might be best to wait a bit until the kX skin architecture changes are completed (although images you create for buttons, sliders, labels, etc. should be salvageable ;-).

p.p.s. 3530 release date? Well, 19 updates were released last year, so the average frequency is about 1 release per 0.65 months (i.e., a new release every 20 days or so - sometimes more, sometimes less ;-).

Yep.. I will update the brushed skin for 3530.

For all those out there with a mere Live or Audigy without extras, you can look forward to a 'Lite' version of the skin too.

I get sick of staring at all these sliders that I have no need for so they're going out the window!

I'm thinkin:--

Master
Front / Rear / Headphones
AC97 only
smaller sliders
less pages

Let's get back to basics and shrink the bitch down.

Any comments?

keep the current size of DSP window (Aqua has 700x500 for compatibilty with 800x600 resolution) - Brushed has it a bit bigger (size does matter, right

) - and it is better.
