Hi. I posted my question in some other threads, but I guess they don't really belong there after all.

I've read the DSP tutorial and I think I understand the basics now. So I tried to make a custom setup for my situation using ProFX plugins. Here's what soundcard/etc. I have:

- Audigy 2 Platinum eX soundcard
- 2.1 analog speakers (connected to the soundcard)
- Stereo headphones (connected to the external unit's headphones plug)

Here's what I want:

- Listen to stereo sound only, with NO effects
- Use Line in 2 (on my external unit) to record audio.
- Be able to switch from headphones to speakers in an easy way (physically muting the speakers is fine).
- Make use of the p16v chip to be able to use 24bit/96KHz sound. I hope to get better sound using that.

So, I made something. Here's a screenshot from it:

I took the p16v as input (is this possible?), and mapped it to the stereo mix plugin. I did the same with Line 2 in. I then connected Stereo Mix to both Analog Front Out and Headphones Out. Using that setup I hear sound from my speakers, but not from my headphones. Also, when I play udial.wav I hear the squeeking noises that tell me (good chance I'm wrong here) that the p16v chip isn't doing his job.

I'm now back at the default DSP. When I play sound through 'kX Wave SB0280 10k2 [a800] 4/5' I can use my speakers and headphones the way I want; I can physically mute my speakers and mute headphones using kX Mixer. However, when I use 'kX Wave SB0280 10k2 [a800] HQ' - the p16v - my headphones refuse.

Can someone help me out? Maybe some DSP guru's can design me a simple DSP that meet my (imo simple) needs. I've been trying all kinds of stuff for days, but it won't work Thanks a lot

Sorry jelbo, I do not have a 10k2 card, thus no WaveHQ/p16v so I cannot provide much help (hopefully someone will respond eventually to your questions).

But as I understand it, there are 2 different things associated with p16v, the plugin, and the actual hardware. The plugin is used to route WaveHQ into the DSP, and thus it converts the signal to 16/48. So if you want non-resampled WaveHQ, then you want to use the p16v hardware and not the plugin.

From what I understand, you can only select a single output to use for WaveHQ. I believe you select the output to use on the main page of kxmixer, and there might be a bug that only allows you to use 4/5 (front). Addtionally, when recording WaveHQ, I do not think that the WinMM Recording pins of k2lt are used, instead, you select the p16v Record source on the main page of kxmixer.

Wave HQ is supposed to be routable via KX 24/96 router - with a drop down to choose which physical output to rout 24/96 content through... but the drop down doesnt work - and 24/96 (wave HQ) will ONLY be heard through the front speakers.(I think it follows the Swap Front <> settings as well.
BUT AC3 encoded material sent via Wave HQ seems to get decoded properly - but headphones will only output DSP (16/48) content.

Thanks for the feedback. OK, I can forget WaveHQ through my headphones. No big deal and I'm glad I know this (so I won't waste more time on it, hehe).

Recording using WaveHQ isn't a big concern to me, and yeah, on kX Mixer I can select the p16v recording source.

Since I'm still running the default DSP layout on which I bypassed some unneeded plugins, I'd very much like to know how to totally bypass the DSP and just use the p16v chip to get my sound outputted to my 2.1 front speakers. I need a new DSP layout, right? I don't mind at all if I have to load another DSP preset if I want to listen with my headphones.

I should read some more about the 24/96 router, but is it so that the bug won't let me do what I need to do? I know of the green/red connection dots bug, but I just need to make one change at a time and close and reopen the windows if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the help. (Maybe I won't hear the difference at all though (16/48 instead of 24/96), but I want to get the most out of my hardware )

I have found using 24/96 playback when 99% of the time its for MP3's or some other compressed format - the extra 'fidelity' is rarely realized, and without ability to use DSP - I never worry about 24/96 playback.

And, keep in mind - recording and playback are almost completely independant... for instance - I can be recording 24/96 - but monitor the input (thru headphones) via the DSP - granted, the monitor is in 16/48 - but, it does function.

To completly bypass the DSP for 24/96 playback - disconnect (make dot red) for the 10K2 > 12S and/or (depending on if your using the analog or digital outputs) the 10K2 > SPDIF connections.

No DSP changes need to be made - and this can be save/restored in a settings file independant of other settings by choosing the proper checks ('routings' IIRC) durring the SAVE settings. But I find it easier to just manually change the switch in the KX 24/96 router.

Think of the P16V as seperate of the DSP - unless the P16V plugin is in the DSP - they pretty much operate independantly for each other. Wave HQ bypasses the DSP - BUT if the p16V plugin in used in a DSP config - YOU *could* hear doubled sounds from the DSP & P16V at same times. I was confused by this... but looking at signal routings in the help file helped clear this 'mystery' up for me.
