Hi All. New to the forums.
Microsoft released the public beta 2 of Windows Vista yesterday, so I went ahead and decided to try it out. Yeah, it works if your system meets the requirements, and takes a while to get used to and appreciate. There aren't that many bugs as I expected either. [
Go here to get the beta]
Anyway, the kX mixer doesn't want to load right on windows Vista. I use a Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 card, which worked perfectly with the kX Project Drivers/Related in Win 2k and XP on the same setup. The Drivers are installed and show in the audio properties, and sound works [though through the rear speakers

], but the kX Mixer doesn't load and the Game Port drivers don't exactly work.
System Config [Custom Built]:
Intel D915GEV Mainboard
Intel P4 3.0 GHz Processor [630] with Hyper-Threading on
Windows Vista Beta 2 Public Build #5384 [x86 Version, used VMWare to install it to a clean drive before booting, didn't have a DVD Burner]
Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 [works with XP/2k]
Let me know if you need more info
Install Process:
Tried 3537 and 3538j
- Download and launch
- Installs files fine
- Goes to install drivers, installs sound card driver
- Fails to install game port driver, windows reports it isn't working properly
- Driver install app complains drivers weren't installed correctly during the windows driver install error
- Rest goes smoothly
- Reboot
- Sound Works [rear speakers only -- default kX behavior]
- kX Mixer attempts to loads and complains the drivers were not correctly installed and to rerun driver setup, then exits.
So! Sound works fine, but the kX Mixer won't load. I suspect it doesn't like the fact the Game Port drivers didn't install.
I don't know if this belongs in the bugs forum or not, so I put it here. If anyone has some work-arounds I could try, please post. It's not critical I get it all working, but I thought I'd ask.
Thanks!
