stumped: reinstall problem

I have an SB Live Value (CT4670, yes it's supported) that i had working wonderfully with the kXproject drivers when one day i staretd up my computer (running win2k) and recieved an error to the effect of having to reinstall the kX drivers (3537). Upon attempting to reinstall it seemed to skip most of the install and jumped directly to the "pick VST folder" part. Upon restarting the mixer did not appear, nor did the ASIO drivers appear in my recording programs. I did a quick search through the forum, but i didn't see any similar problems. Any ideas? Did i miss something? I'd appreciate any help as thinks were working so wonderfully before. Thanks in advance!

I can only think to ask whether you uninstalled before trying to reinstall?
If not, try that.
You may also wish to try DriveCleaner Pro (t'is free) before starting the re-install.

i had uninstalled. my problem was caused by the card not being recognized by this system, it was no longer showing as a device in the Device Manager. I tried it in another computer with the same problem. It seemed odd that it had quit working so suddenly and uneventfully, so i tried it in different slots. It turned out that a bit of dirt or grime had attached itself to one of the PCI contacts. Putting it in the different slots must have scratched away some of the dirt. When i saw it show up, then disapear after i plugged in my speaker cable, i thought it might be a flakey connection/connector. Sure enough, there was a big of something on one of the contacts. After cleaning the contacts the card works well again. I guess that's the down side of resurecting an old card with something like the Kxproject. Thanks for the suggestions. I hope this brings a smile to your day as it did mine.
