Yes, then you connect the new cards digital out to the livedrive's coaxial spdif in OR to the cd_spdif connector on the card. I have a SBLive with a mono plug plugged into the digital socket at the rear of the card connecting straight to the RCA coax spdif on my AudigyDrive.
If you get an Audigy instead of a live then you can wire 2 spdif cables to your live (cd_spdif + livedrive coax in) and get 4 more tracks instead of 2. (Audigy has the ability to utilize line_in and Aux at the same time). If you do get an Audigy, it must have the AUD_EXT pins on it (ie, sb0090). You'd probably end up using this as your main card too.
Another option might be your motherboard's on-board sound (if you've got it)... get the manual for your board and locate the SPDIF pins (hopefully it will have them), and connect to "ground" and "spdif signal out", then connect the other end to either cd_spif on the live or coax in on the livedrive
