I released a new version of the console version today. It fixes a bug with the -o switch but it may fix other bugs.

I've tried the new console version and still get a hugely distorted output..
Again, the GUI version is -almost- perfect for me apart from intermittent stuttering and LEDs flashing between stereo and DD on my decoder ![]() Any ideas? Thanks

A hugely distorted output could be caused by the volume going into the encoder being too high. The console version has a volume switch (-v) that can be used to reduce the volme going into the encoder. Try it out.

I tried the -v switch.. it's quieter but still sounds just as distorted as before. Plus, it also frequently stutters as the gui version does.

Hi, I have a problem that someone ay be able to help me with. I seem to have it all working ok (using 2.05) But when I test the speakers all the channels only come from the left/right front. rears, center, sub all come from LF RF.
Anyways, my drivers seem to be different than the ones in the pictures. I cannot select spdif 0. My options are OFF, SPDIF 1, SPDIF 2, SPDIF 3. The only one that works as it is, is number 1. I also saw no place to mark digital output only. And the last concern I have is that I believe I downloaded the latest kx driver, but my asio panel shows 2004. In your picture it has 2005 as the latest date. And my surrounder is just regular surrounder. Not surrounder+. Is that how it should be? I have a audigy2zs by the way. Thanks! |

The latest version of the kX driver is 3539 (see the sticky thread at the top this forum).

Thanks for the reply. I was using the ones from the official site. 3537. Anyways, the new drivers seem to work properly. I still cant find digital output only. But thats ok.

Digital Output Only mode is usually for cards that have a shared jack (a jack that serves as both a digital output and analog output) and is necessary because you cannot use both at the same time. Cards that do not have this type of jack would not need this setting, so I would guess that is why you do not have that option.

AUdigy2 value working scenario
Hi everybody,
I'm glad to say I'm one of those new users of redocneXk . I couldn't run the gui under vista but the console version worked fine. Vista 32bit Audigy2 value creative drivers dtt2500 speaker system I have to first make the spdif as the default output and then run the redocneXk. Now the Dolby digital light is on. Now I select the Speakers to be default output. Thanks for the great app

Re: redocneXk (GUI version) released - Realtime 5.1 ac3 Encoder
wow i hope this program will work for me....
i have 3 sound cards Realtek ALC850 onboard sound (non-HD) Audigy LS SB Live Value! (CT4830 it says on the card but other apps report it as CT4832) currently the Audigy LS is installed and using the creative official drivers. i do get movies to decode AC3 as my reciever light does come on when i play the movie and when movie finishes it goes back to Dolby Surround or the other light which is just Stereo i have "ASIO4ALL_2_9_English" installed i have "redocnexk_v2.05" installed Kristal 1.0.1 reports Audio Inputs: ---KRISTAL Line-In ---KRISTAL Waver Audio Outputs: ---ASIO4ALL v2 ---MME - Digital Audio Interface (SB Aud ---MME - Speaker (SB Audigy LS) i know my reciever only likes 48khz input so i tried to adjust settings in asio4all for this (unchecked convert to 44.1) and checked on force 16 bit wdm anyhow im not having any luck....can someone help me out here? |

Re: redocneXk (GUI version) released - Realtime 5.1 ac3 Encoder
You cannot use ASIO4ALL, it needs to be a native ASIO driver (so that it can access the individual channels of the sound card, etc).

Re: redocneXk (GUI version) released - Realtime 5.1 ac3 Encoder
AFIAK, the Audigy LS just did not include ASIO support, so I do not think that there is anything you can do about it.
You can get ASIO with the CT4832 using kX, but then you have the problem of not having AC3 passthru with that card and kX, so again you are out of luck... I think the only possibility would be to use ASIO with the CT4832 with kX to encode the audio, and use one of the other cards to output the AC3 signal (you can choose seperate input and output devices in redocneXk ). |

Re: redocneXk (GUI version) released - Realtime 5.1 ac3 Encoder
i cant figure out why asio4all wouldnt work with it...
asio4all is better then asio from what i hear the people who use digital audio workstations use... i did a google search for "audigy ls asio" and cubase made an asio driver for it in cubase 5 so i trying to think.... so its a known fact that "redocneXk" dont work with asio4all? since i run an sli i only have one avail pci slot and the audigy ls is in it....i have a pci-e slot but no pci-e cards to put in it. |

Re: redocneXk (GUI version) released - Realtime 5.1 ac3 Encoder
The issue is that you need to access the audio for each channel (front left/right, rear left/right, center, LFE, etc), thus you need 6 ASIO channels. ASIO4ALL only gives 2 channels, and you likley do not have much control over what the source audio is for each channel.
i.e. Here is an example of the ASIO channels offered by the Creative driver for an Audigy 2: ASIO 00 - Line_In 2 Left ASIO 01 - Line_In 2 Right ASIO 02 - Mix Left ASIO 03 - Mix Right ASIO 04 - Mix Front Left ASIO 05 - Mix Front Right ASIO 06 - Mix Rear Left ASIO 07 - Mix Rear Right ASIO 08 - Mix Front Center ASIO 09 - Mix LFE ASIO 10 - Mix Rear Center 1 ASIO 11 - Mix Rear Center 2 ASIO 12 - Mix Side Left ASIO 13 - Mix Side Right ASIO 14 - SPDIF_In Left ASIO 15 - SPDIF_In Right ASIO 16 - Line_In 1/Mic Left ASIO 17 - Line_In 1/Mic Right ASIO 18 - Line_In 3 Left ASIO 19 - Line_In 3 Right Compare the above to what you see exposed by ASIO4ALL. |

wait the CT4832 does show those it does have the ASIO driver like you mentioned before....so as long as "redocneXk" can use "asio" it will work with creatives default drivers? omg tell me yes please so i can pull this audigy ls out and have some sweet 5.1 gaming. |

Re: redocneXk (GUI version) released - Realtime 5.1 ac3 Encoder
If it includes a native ASIO driver (I did not think that it did, but I cannot say for sure... the Creative driver for my Live! 5.1 card does not (kX does, but again, it does not support AC3 passthru)), and supports AC3 passthru, then it should work.

i forgot creative dont support vista 32bit with the sound blaster live value series in winxp 32bit it did have the asio driver....i seen that 8x8 and 16x16 when i was setting up ableton live 7 (i could select asio or asio4all) so no one has got the regular creative driver to work in vista (i mean no added features but not missing any either) or a driver similar....i would use kX but you said it dont do passthrough. |

Re: redocneXk (GUI version) released - Realtime 5.1 ac3 Encoder
Did you enable AC3 passthru? You have to specifically enable AC3 passthru in order to pass AC3 to SPDIF (otherwise it gets decoded by the driver, and you will just get regular stereo PCM).

Re: redocneXk (GUI version) released - Realtime 5.1 ac3 Encoder
wow i got some wierd crap going on
![]() ok im in vista 32bit ct4832 is installed with "kxdrv3545b-full" and i get sound out going through the digital out to my reciever i havent seen the dts/ac3 light come on when i play a dts/ac3 movie but i think im close i see asio with "redocnexk_v2.05" and all those outputs (16) is it? im just not real familiar with kX its kind of confusing.... will go look for ac3 passthru now... here is what my screen looks like http://www.imagecoast.com/images/en1gma/ddl.jpg and i think it is supposed to look like this. http://pages.globetrotter.net/samaus...neXk_Mixer.png Last edited by g000fy; Nov 13, 2008 at 12:40 AM. |

Re: redocneXk (GUI version) released - Realtime 5.1 ac3 Encoder
i dont have an ac3 passthrough option....
i should get ac3.... when kx driver installed it detected my scard and it shows up in device manager as http://www.imagecoast.com/images/en1gma/ct4832.jpg spdif output/ac3 in vista sound manager. i dont think "redocneXk" will work until the kx driver works with ct4832 and ac3 passthrough. ex: dvd movies playing through digital out will not put my reciever in ac3 mode. wmp makes kx icon popup saying the file is ac3 but no ac3 light on my reciever... Re: redocneXk (GUI version) released - Realtime 5.1 ac3 Encoder
Right, this is what I have been saying, kX does not support AC3 passthru with the CT4832 (or any 10k1 model). The option was removed from kxmixer for these cards because it never worked.

Re: redocneXk (GUI version) released - Realtime 5.1 ac3 Encoder
ok i have a sb live value which is advertised as a 4.1 (ct4832) i could understand kxmixer not having ac3 passthroguh on that with using creatives drivers (which it dont but im just saying)......but what about on the 10k1 sb live! 5.1 which natively did ac3 with even creatives official drivers....those cards should word just fine with ac3 passthrough (with kxmixer) unless they are stopped from doing so on purpose?

Re: redocneXk (GUI version) released - Realtime 5.1 ac3 Encoder
No, 10k1 cards re-sample everything, so AC3 passthru is not possible without some trickery. As I understand it, the Creative driver uses xTRAM to pass AC3 to the DSP in such a way that is not compatible with the way kX uses xTRAM (thus kX does not support AC3 passthu for 10k1 models (it does support it with 10k2 (Audigy, etc) models)).

Re: redocneXk (GUI version) released - Realtime 5.1 ac3 Encoder
oh ok...its is a kX problem....see i was thinking it was a vista problem....
ok the ac3 5.1 is pretty important to my...i would love to have it for gaming. with my nf4 ALC850 is this possible? i know that the ac3 app works with realtek HD right? what about the audigy LS my sb live CT4832 should do this with kX its a pitty since it natively does it with creative drivers already....but there are no creative drivers for vista with asio support. kX drivers give me the asio i need for the ac3 app to encode is there any other drivers out there that will give me asio in vista for the ct4832 so i can get the ac3 app to work? |

Re: redocneXk (GUI version) released - Realtime 5.1 ac3 Encoder
Right, it is a kX issue that has nothing to do with the Windows version or the cards EEPROM.
There are no drivers that I know that will give you both ASIO and AC3 Passthru with the CT4832. I do not know much about your other 2 sound cards. Assuming that your ALC850 supports AC3 passthru, I would look around and see if you can find a driver for that, that includes ASIO. Beyond the above (as I said previously), I think your only other choice (aside from getting another soundcard (maybe one with DDL)), would be to use the CT4832 with kX ASIO to do the encoding, and using another card that supports AC3 passthrou to output the signal. |

Re: redocneXk (GUI version) released - Realtime 5.1 ac3 Encoder
yea my acl850 supports passthrough i believe....and remember i said i couldnt add another card cause i have sli and only one pci slot avail.....well you just made me think what about the onboard and passing it to that (like you mentioned) thats a good idea but im not sure what it would do to latency...to my understanding it was pushing 180ms already from what ive read...
there is asio drivers from realtek for the ac97 codec? i never seen them when i setup ableton/cakewalk/sourceforge....i always had to install asio4all if i remember right. one more thing about what you said about using 2 sound cards....how do i tell kXmixer to have the ct4832 encode and tell it to go out the alc850...i dont need an extra cable that goes out from the sb live card to go into the the alc850? |

You set you game to use the kX driver. Then in redocneXk, choose kX ASIO as the ASIO driver, and choose the ALC850 as the output device. |
