KX drivers and Creative

Hi all. I'm sure this topic has been raised in the past, however, I could not track down the thread for it.

I currently have a sb Audigy and a sbLive card. the Audigy1 card is installed with the youpax xfi driver set and I wanted to use the live card in the same machine.

So I installed the card, and of course windows wanted to install the default creative wdm drivers for it. I stopped it from doing this and went on to attempt to install the youpax drivers. Now I knew youpax xfi wouldn't support the live but I tried it anyway.

After the drivers failed to load on the card. I said what the heck and went to install KX. But instead of letting kx run the setup I just had it unpack it's intaller files in the place it needed to go.

From there I installed the driver by hand through the add new hardware panel.
All went great. Only thing I didn't do was let KX drivers overwrite the sfman32.dll.

To make a long story short. I now have 2 cards 1 running Creative and one running KX and they both work great together. I wanted to have KX on one anyway to enable gsif on giga studio as upose to using rewire through bidule.

giga loaded up great for the live-kx card..

So, for all those asking if you can have both drivers on one machine, I'd say "yes". My suggestion though, is to have creative's drivers installed first. And install the kx drivers second.. I'm sure the process can be done either or, but I'm just reporting my steps.

Peace.....

No problem.

The only thing I'm unsure of is how this handles with cards of the same type. I.e., 2 audigy1 cards etc... but I'm assuming it will work since the drivers install based on card id's and not names.

Just a note... When I first installed KX I didn't initially have to reboot.. but I long since rebooted and the setup still worked... I thought maybe windows would throw things all over the place but it didn't.

So for anyone who whats eax and still have kx drivers, this is worth a shot.

Nice thing about this is, creatives effects register as dx effects.. the reverb, chorus.. etc.. I connect via digital and I send the KX card to the Audigy with the reverb effect loaded and I can use the reverb with the kx card.

Yeah I've also got creative drivers and kx on the same system... I installed the creative driver first, for my Audigy 2 Value, then KX 3538j in the normal way for my Audigy 1. I think I recall the first time round KX tried to install for both cards instead of just the A1. All i did then was remove KX, take out the A2Value from my machine, install KX for the single card, then when i put it back in the creative drivers picked it up again.

I Think thats what I did anyway... something like that.

Unfortunetly i have to have CL drivers for A2Value just to get SPDIF out to work. Will be good if/when SPDIF works with KX
