Barbarian (or Death Sword for some) by Palace, followed by IK+

Few moves, but deadly and more about out thinking your opponent than who knows the best combination of buttons faster.

Street Fighter 2 alone beats every other series...throw in the new one coming out and it's the hands down winner

I went with smash bros. I spend so much time playing that game with friends that it's sad. Can't wait for the Wii game either.

that had kick ass hand to hand combat as well as some shooting.. mostly hand to hand kick assness..... to bad some of the gameworlds were good and bad... but the general gameplay was brilliant... wish someone would have taken that route to the next lvl....

Judas those games are all of a different genre. I'm pretty sure this poll is for fighting games which are popular due to playing against human players.

Double Dragon 2 was good, up there with Streets of Rage

the only game i listed that kinda matches... is oni..... stricky beat em ups... run around and kick and punch the living shit outa anything the moves style..... just wasn't 2 players..... but then again, you can do the same thiing in any of the other games...

unless of course strickly 1vs1 no adventure or anything .... which i found quite boring most of the time.

SNK series are the best! (King Of Fighters all the way), but they are kind of discontinued so my vote goes for SF series with the up coming SFIV (can't wait to play that game!).

Those are fighting games. Beat em ups are things like river city ransom, double dragon, golden axe, streets of rage, TMNT arcade, etc.

And the best one of those is obviously Discarded Online

I have to say Smash Bros. is the Best!!! I played it once at my friends house and we ended up playing for hours and hours and hours. It has an easy learning curve and makes you want to compete with others until you earn bragging rights (which may be never depending on your skill :P.) Way to go Nintendo!
