Nintendo DSi Review
When Nintendo came out with their DS handheld gaming system, the dual-screen (DS), touch screen and microphone were revolutionary. Now Nintendo has introduced a new entry in the DS line – the Nintendo DSi. The “i” or “eye” represents the addition of two cameras. The Nintendo DS Lite is still available at $129.00. The new DSi is currently selling for $169. We decided check out the advantages of the new Nintendo the DSi to see if it is worth the extra cost.

Re: Nintendo DSi Review
That review made the classic mistake of calling the cameras 3 mega pixels. They are NOT 3 mega pixels, they are .3 mega pixels (point three), as in about 1/3 of a mega pixel. If they actually WERE 3 mega pixel cameras, then maybe it would be something, but they are not, which makes them kinda lame.
Still, I don't care how many reviews I see for the DSi, I refuse to get one. They eliminated half the total library of available games for the DSi when they removed the GBA port, not to mention a few DS games that used accessories like the rumble pak and the Guitar Hero attachment. I already have a DSlite and hardly play that for lack of good games, so why would I waste more money on another iteration of the same thing? Then there's that whole firmware update thing. Yeah, I want my flashcarts to suddenly become useless. NOT! Sure, I want to go out and buy a whole slew of new accessories for the DSi since DSlite accessories (cases, styli, etc.) don't fit the DSi. NOT!

Re: Nintendo DSi Review
I regret having bought one. I got mine the day it came out, used it all of 30 minutes, and haven't touched it since. I've even got the 1800mAh battery for it, so battery life isn't an excuse for me. It's the fact that I keep going back to my GBA games that keeps me playing my DS Lite
If you have a DS Lite, don't buy this. If you don't, then buy a DS Lite only if you want to play GBA games. If GBA gaming is not your thing, then get a DSi. |
