The New Xbox 360 Experience In-depth Review

On November 19, Microsoft released its new dashboard, dubbed "The New Xbox Experience". This free firmware update is mandatory for all consoles that connect to Xbox Live, and aims to redefine how users both use the Xbox and interact online. The new update completely overhauls the existing blade-style interface, moving to a much more flowing, intuitive design. It promises to keep and improve upon legacy features, while adding new content and functionality. Existing themes, gamer pictures, or backgrounds will work just fine in the new interface. However, the previous dashboard, which provided a mazelike jumble of movements to get to places of interest on each blade, has been replaced with smooth vertically revolving themes, with each expanding out horizontally for related content.

Re: The New Xbox 360 Experience In-depth Review

I don't like the new lag/delay that I experience some times between eh, "blades".
I believe the new system is very different and they have managed, apart from some good few things, to create a whole different bad system that has different bad choices for dashboard.

I would like to see an option to set an "alarm" to wake up the xbox, download what you want and shut down automaticaly.

I would also like to see the menu system way faster. While in game and pushing the big X or just in the dashboard. Can never be fast enough, but I think on average this update made it faster at least for me.

With the old update while I was in a game and I sent a message or something it could take upwards of 30 seconds before it does something...

makes me think they built the 360 off XP with all the little delay glitches that drive you nuts lol.

HI Blue Mak,

in regards to your message:

I would like to see an option to set an "alarm" to wake up the xbox, download what you want and shut down automaticaly.

you can activate an auto shut down after downloading. This will allow you to download content after you have switched off your 360, I believe the fan will continue to run, and the power light on the front of your console, will flicker as its downloading, when finished, it will fully switch off. Go to system settings, console settings, download options, or auto downloads. good luck

Re: The New Xbox 360 Experience In-depth Review

Thanks shoooshoo. I wish there was an auto start for the downloads as well, my download speed only gets high at very late at night and it would be great if I could just have it wake up at specific time to do the downloads.
