Mirrors Edge (PC) Sneak PhysX video preview

We recently had some time to sit and play with Mirrors Edge on the PC and we have a video for download which illustrates the PhysX content that is going to be available for those people who have a modernday Nvidia graphics card.

You can download it Here

damn, thats a hell of a lot better looking than the 360 version I have. Shame the developers didn't spend a bit more time putting more environment texture detail in. All the surfaces can look "burnt out" at times with what appears to be overuse of bloom.

I remember hearing about this game a while ago. I think I may pick it up when it comes out.

Re: Mirrors Edge (PC) Sneak PhysX video preview

It's funny how something so simple like PhysX can increase the atmosphere in a game, such as papers blowing away when a chopper flies close to them, ripping cloth, or shattering glass. It adds to the overall chaos and frantic nature of game, and sort of emphisizes the importance of keeping on the move at all times.

That begs the question: PhysX, in this case, is just eye candy, and if the console versions had this too, do you think those versions would be getting the same or better reviews?

Re: Mirrors Edge (PC) Sneak PhysX video preview

I think most of the reviews have been negative primarily due to the somewhat limted nature of the game rather than the effects. That said, seeing all the cloth effects and other PhsyX goodies will certainly make me want to play the PC version when it hits the shelves. It adds a huge amount of realism to the environment of all the games so far that have used it.

Hopefully we start seeing more PhsyX related games coming out in the new year, it is a very exciting technology.

Its not that, and it really has nothing to do with eye candy.

Its just little details and effects to make the game more immersive and realistic.

Console Games should really always get worse reviews than the PC versions. The sheer amount of options and support (toolkits and mods) dwarf console gaming. Let alone the ability to choose and edit every single setting

Its like comparing a mac to a PC

Mac = simple pos for simple minded folk
Console Gaming

PC = Limitless possibilities, upgrades, and a variety of software, tweaking, and overclocking capabilities.
