Rumor: Metal Gear Solid 4 to Xbox 360 After All
Source: ShackNews
___________
An Xbox 360 version of Kojima Productions' Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is reportedly in development and will be released 12 to 14 months after the PlayStation 3 edition, according to XboxFamily.
Correspondent Freeze claims he wrestled this information out of an unnamed Konami representative at a distribution meeting and, upon contacting Microsoft, received a lengthy though non-committal response.
While an Xbox 360 edition of Metal Gears Solid 4 has long been rumored, Konami and Sony have long maintained that the much-anticipated title is a PlayStation 3 exclusive.
That said, there is a long list of evidence suggesting an inevitable multiplatform version. Last year, Kojima Productions employee Ryan Payton noted that an Xbox 360 version would not compromise or limit the PlayStatiion 3 edition.
Konami CEO Kazumi Kitaue later said the company "might have to take some steps" to ensure a profit on the game, with Payton recently commenting that the title needs to sell in excess of one million copies on its first day to justify its high development costs.

I wouldn't be surprized if it was true. I don't think a big budget title like MGS could stay on the PS3 alone and make the amout of loot Konami would like. Also, its not exactly the first time a title has been billed as be " 'console name here' exclusive", and then being released on another cosole within a year.
Good news for Xbox owners too.

This again. I will be expecting a press conference from konami then soon if it's true.
Edit: it would have been better to release it on both platforms at the same time. After year with the story and gameplay being played to death by PS3 owners it will cease to be fresh on release.
Unfortunately this is what happened when MGS2 was ported to the original xbox.

shouldn't have they of done the same with halo 2? this is the console's flagship title. some games are meant not to be sent to other platforms or simultaneous release.

I doubt it will come to the 360. Not completely certain but MGS3 was never ported in the end and they probably based that on sales of MGS2. I would never tell an xbox user to expect MGS4 on the console at some point in the future as that would be wrong.
PS3 sales are increasing, 8 million world wide last I checked thanks mainly to the price drops it's now the same price as the ps2 was on launch.

I never understood why people care if a game is released on other consoles. So long as its on the platform you own, why does it matter if the other camp gets it too. Unless, that is, you own a fair share of stock in the company. In this case, it wouldn't make sense for Konami to ignore the 14MM Xbox 360 owners for purely sentimental reasons.
I'd personally rather a good game come out on all platforms, make a killing in sales, and fund development for more good games.

Rumor Killer: No MGS4 on 360, says Konami
Posted On Behalf of BiGBrOwNPimpsta.

_______________
TheGameReviews.com had the opportunity to speak with Konami’s PR about this latest rumor, and unsurprisingly, Konami is baffled by claims that Metal Gear Solid 4 is going multiplatform. In a rush to get the word out, it seems that those who broke the story talked to everyone except Konami, who made this statement "For the record, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and there are no plans to develop an Xbox 360 version of the game." Nuff said..

MGS was never an exclusive to the PS franchise...
MGS 1 remake only on GameCube (Nintendo)
MGS Substance for PC / Xbox (Microsoft)
Why wouldn't MGS4 continue the trend? Well it will I'll bet one beer on it

I still don't buy it. It simply makes no sense financially to make such a high profile title exclusive to the console in 3rd place. I bet my hat that a "remixed" version comes out for the 360.
