Metal Gear Solid 4 Pushed Back to Q2 2008

Originally planned for release this fall and more recently delayed into the winter of 2008, Kojima Productions' crazily anticipated (and most likely just plain crazy) PlayStation 3 stealth action sequel Metal Gear Solid 4 is now due in Q2 2008. The news was divulged in a statement made by publisher Konami's Japanese operation.

"Konami has decided to delay the title's release in order to make further improvements to the quality of the game and provide even greater enjoyment for more customers worldwide," reads the brief update. "Konami will continue its efforts to make 'Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots' meet everyone's expectations."

Just pack up all the PS3's into a mass grave and bury them... when archaeologists dig them up there might be 5 games worth buying for the PS3.

this is the reason i bought the ps3.... and why i didnt buy the 360. now i have to wait longer, this is as bad as blue balls

and that is why i sold my ps3 also the fact 360 is just a better console.
sell it while you can get a good price for it, or your going to be stuck with a brick lol

i like the 360, but i looked at the franchises im into and they are all multiplatform or ps3. Gears of War is an exception and getting it on PC. final fantasy, tekken, gran turismo and bunch others are on playstation and most likely will stay there. i also looked at the costs when buying it, ps2/ps1 compatability, wifi, upgradeable hard drive, blu ray. 360 doesnt include the wifi, and blu ray isnt a huge thing for me but down the line i dont have to buy an attatchment. im quite impressed by the media center features the ps3 can do, and web browser kills time nicely. i dont care to buy content online, buying a game for 60 bucks, then buying content for another 20 bucks then buying the sequel is too much which most hit games do now.

ps3 will gain momentum, but i will agree its a brick right now.

You will get a better game because of it so no worries. For now you can pick up COD4 and smile to the 360 boys when it looks better on your PS3

It's the final in this series and i'd rather it was made to be as good as possible. Besides there's prolouge for racing fans to look forward to and COD4 and UT3 for ps3 users as well if you're into shooters.

I didn't read the article, but I have noticed that the anticipated titles for PS3 all seem to be releasing in 2008. That doesn't sound good. They need some great titles now that will move some systems.

No matter. Gonna pick up Mario Galaxy on the Wii.

Well it's the last game Hideo will be working on. There may be spin offs or he may do a U-turn but it will tie up all the loose ends of the story. Check the sony E3 conference from this year.

Edit: also to add I do not believe the sole motivation for making a game like metal gear is money. What makes the series special is its focus on issues which are not really covered in other games.
The metal gear series explores the issues of genetic cloning, psychological warfare, information control, meme theory and nuclear war.
It presents the story in a medium which has shown to convey its aims much more effectively than I think than a film, simply because it has no time consitrants and all the immersive trickery a game allows you to do. This is why I love the series so much.

Good news for xbox 360 owners and future to be PS3 owners :P

I mean, there are many games out for Xbox and PC which will keep me busy. I'll buy PS3 in mid-2008 or 2009 when most good games are out and the system will becomes cheaper.
