PC, 360, PS3 – Valve Has Canceled Half Life 2: Black Box

Source: Softpedia
_______
Half-Life 2: The Black Box package, offering Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2, has just been officially cancelled by Valve. The only collection available now for the FPS's faithful fans will be the Orange Box of Episode 2 releasing in autumn. The Orange Box will be setting gamers back $10 more, including the original Half-Life 2 and HL2: Episode 1.

Same here.

Also, I wonder what this means for those that get the Black Box pack-in that almost every manfacturer is giving away with the AMD 2900XT? If that's cancelled, does this mean those pack-ins are void, or are they upgraded to the Orange Box?

It will not be long before the valve fanboys are in here sticking up for them.
This company has done crap like this since day one. Nobody should be surprised by any of there decisions anymore. I have this strange feeling that m$ has some ties to this company.

OOAgent is on a distinguished road

wow, i cant believe they actually want people to give away there unused codes to other people. of course i know a few friends i can give mine to, but to think that they WANTED it to happen....

well they should be sold separate on Steam correct? All i want is Ep2 and Portal.

Can't you just buy Episode 2 by itself? If so, why freak out?

From the sound of this news article you have to buy the Orange Box to get EP2.

Then don't get the orange box.
EP2 is not going to be the only FPS around.

The whole "give your code away" is retarded, what about those who gets hl2 and ep1, what if they want to play ep2, then they have to buy the orange box and then an "evil" circle has started.

Hopefully the games can be bought through Steam, but as always it's not cheap to buy the games through Steam, especially if you need all three games (ep2, tf2, portals). So this move by Valve, means that getting ep2, tf2 and portals is getting more expensive.

Just buy the game on steam, nothing to freak out about. My guess its probably more of a move to get people comfortable with Steam. Personally, I'll get the retail version as I don't have Ep 1 yet (I do have 2 copies of HL2 though). No big deal.
