'Halo 2' Vista Gets Delayed
Source: Worthplaying
_______________
Experience the epic story of Halo 2 as Master Chief delves further into the mystery of the Covenant in the aftermath of Halo’s destruction. What he discovers will soon threaten the fate not only of Earth, but of the Universe itself. Microsoft has postponed Halo 2 Vista's May 8th release date to improve the install experience and address other technical issues. No new date was given.

install experience????!?!?!?!?
w t F?
the disk goes in, the installer starts and you leave it to it, wtf is there to experience about that? or do some people blow off in their pants when the speed goes up?
bloody stupid, if ms were to actually train their staff properly how to deal with basic technical issues they wouldn't need to do this.
Example - my friend forgot his XBOX (NOT 360) live 4 button passcode and called microsoft for help, the guy told him to look under the controller flaps, of course... xbox = no flaps...
when he realised (after an eternity) it wasn't a 360 he said "sorry i can't help you, i'll put you through", after ages holding (about 30 minutes he was on the phone, 25 of them holding)
he was put through to a guy that gave him the correct way to solve the problem in seconds...

I think the delay might have something to do with that new "Play as you install" method they are trying. Some sort of new streaming I guess

Yeah it's proberly because of the "Play as you install" thingie, which should make games on PC act like on a console, with installation in the backgground.

Can someone please explain to me why this install process has so much attention? Who gives a damn about the installation process and if you will play 1 or 4 min after you start the installation of the game? Unless you install and uninstall the game every day, what is the point?

Play as you install sounds stupid to me and I can't see how it wouldn't affect performance if your PC is reading off the Dvd drive and writing to the harddrive while playing.

Won't know what's so special about it until we can see it in action. However, if you can play off the disk without installing, it could turn out to be good.

Halo on Vista only is a very underhanded tactic by MS to try and get people to upgrade , hope someone releases an xp compatible patch or the game sinks like a stone to teach them a lesson

How is that in any way good? The very reason PC uses the files on the harddrive is to increase performance. Are there really people out there that don't have 5 minutes to spare for a game install? Anyone who has Vista and a video card able to play Halo 2 will have plenty of hard drive space for the game.

I dunno I hate installing... If I can pop in the game, play and it installs, what's the problem? Seems like a win-win situation?

If it works without lagging the game, yep awesome and anyway you can still install it normally if you want to.

if i could, i would play without a game disk inside the optical drive. that way, i have the game already installed, just double-click whatever icon it is for the game i'm going to play, and boom! the game starts playing.
you know, like how steam works

Took a gander at Gamespots PC vs Xbox comparison of Halo 2 and some supposed comments regarding system requirements being quite low, now I'm kinda psyched for this game.

halo 2 vista isnt gonna be very popular, its an OLD game...... but if they pumped out HALO 3 before it came out on Xbox 360 the sales i bet would be so high...
they can take their time with it....

Ya it's an old game us PC gamers haven't been able to play, not to mention you're supposed to be able to play against Xbox gamers on the PC version. It could have been a popular title but making it Vista only guarantees that won't happen.
