PlayStation 3 becomes UK's fastest selling console
Source: Gamesindustry
_______________
Chart-Track has told GamesIndustry.biz that UK consumers snapped up an estimated 165,000 PlayStation 3 units in the two days following the console's launch.
That makes PS3 the fastest-selling home console in history, beating the Wii - which shifted 105,000 units during its launch weekend - and Xbox 360, with 70,000 sold.
Both Nintendo and Microsoft struggled to meet demand with their consoles, leading to stock shortages - but Sony previously stated that the UK would get around 220,000 of the 1 million PS3 units allocated to Europe for launch.

ive been impressed with the games ive played so far and it is exceptionally well made. very solid.
Even played who_knows some fight night 3 online last night (nice improvements over the 360 version) and was amazed at the lack of lag even though we are quite far apart. Lets just hope the terrible Sony PR machine keep quiet for a while so we can all enjoy it !

WOW
I am in utter disbelief at the moment! How can a console like that be doing so good?
But wow I just can't get over it. I was expecting and read that it did not sell at all lol. I guess you can't believe everything you read.
The good news for me but bad news for everyone who just bought a PS3 and thats a Blu-ray player is most if not all your movies are coming out in HD-DVD over there in Europ lol. I am not sure how the whole thing works over their but I do understand Studio Canal is one of the biggest producers of movies and they don't support blu-ray!
GO HD-DVD. Down with the evil Sony products!

not true. if a movie is made by one of the blu ray grp then that is how it will be released. i think there is one studio that is doing both, but regardless, unless they r just not going to release the blue ray releases in euro(wich makes no sense), the studios will be releasing their movies on blue ray discs.

If I understand this right I think it's the same way as in the USA. Us in the states have movie studios supporting both blu and HD. I can't buy a movie from Sony,Fox,Disney, Lionsgate becaue they release on blu-ray. I can buy a movie from Universal, WB, Paramount and a few others. There are a few that does both.
So depending what side the studio is on over in eruo is going to depend what movies you have a chance to buy on blu-ray or HD-DVD.
