I'm on a quest. Which is a little out of the ordinary for a first-person shooter, but a quest nonetheless. My goal: find out what "S.T.A.L.K.E.R." stands for. In the world of THQ and GSC Game World's long-awaited shooter, we know what a "stalker" is: a mercenary of sorts, hired to retrieve artifacts and information from a radioactive zone surrounding Chernobyl after a second future meltdown. But all the periods in the title? That's a mystery we're still hoping to solve, one of many quests we embarked upon with a preview build of the title.
