Sony rep: Wii an impulse buy
Source: GameSpot
_________
In the past, Sony Computer Entertainment America spokesman Dave Karraker has been fairly critical of his gaming rivals at Microsoft. In September, Karraker called Microsoft's decision to release an HD DVD add-on for the Xbox 360 that only plays movies "unfortunate," adding that the company's 1080p update for the system wasn't "full HD."
Two months later, he slammed Microsoft's decision to offer high-definition movies and TV shows for download over Xbox Live as "a disservice to their consumer base" because purchasers of the Xbox 360 Core system would need to buy a hard drive to store the large files.
Now, Karraker has turned his eye toward Nintendo's Wii, telling The New York Times that the system didn't belong in the same category as the PlayStation 3.
"Wii could be considered an impulse buy more than anything else," Karraker was quoted as saying.

"....the system didn't belong in the same category as the PlayStation 3."
Well... I'll give you that one, Dave, cuz the Wii isn't in the losers category.
Points of interest:
- The Wii sold 1.2M units by years end. PS3 was 700K (now ask yourself how many of those were returns or exchanges for DOA units? Ooo.. maybe 1/3?)
- PS3 sales have slacked off since the Christmas rush (which even Dave mentioned it), and you can usually find units somewhere. Hell, I can go to my local EB, and pick up the 60GB unit right now (well.. in 9 hours actually since it's 1:20AM atm, but that's besides the point). The same cannot be said for the Wii. As Dave said it's hard to find a Wii. Why is that? Cuz it bloody well sells out pretty much the same day retailers get stock. The fact that Dave sees this as a mark against Nintendo is a sure indication that he's in denial. What a loser.

i think making a console that can turn a profit at a price low enough to classify as an impulse buy or fit the "mom, can I have one of those...PLEASE!!!!" bill is a definite PLUS for nintendo, not a bad thing like dave here says.
Someone tell dave to go to Nintendo HQ and ask for a copy of their I.D. 10 T. form so he can file a lawsuti against them for undermining the user base by flooding the amrket with cheap whimsicle hardware

Well, compared to the second mortgage on the house and third job you will need to purchase and enjoy the PS3, it does look like and impulse buy. I mean, you don't even have to sell your internal organs, or whore around to be able to afford the thing.

I think Karraker I.Q has decreased by smoking too much crack. What a joke.
He just hate being on a loser side and trying to make himself feel better.
