PlayStation 3 Supply Surpasses Demand
Source: GWN
_______
Last year, it took several months for the Xbox 360 to be readily available in retail stores. Chains such as Gamestop/ EB Games were still filling preorders well into 2006 (the system launched 11/21/2005), and it wasn’t until around March or April that someone could easily walk into a store and walk out with Microsoft’s next-generation console. Now Nintendo seems to be walking that path, with demand for the Wii still far exceeding the available stock. While this time the preorders were filled right away, people are still hunting and waiting in long lines and hoping to get lucky in acquiring the system.
It now appears, though, that Sony is having no such issues. A recent check with my local game store found that they had plenty of Playstation 3’s in stock, and that they weren’t exactly moving. My first thought was that Sony had caught up with production and was sending out greater numbers, but the store informed me that they were still getting the same shipments they’ve been getting all along (roughly 2 systems a week), but that with nobody coming in to purchase the console the stock is just building up.

I am so happy! The PS3 is flopping harder than I was expecting and this can only be for the better. Only once Sony finialy relizes that over pricing and forcing features on people does not fly in the general public. Not everyone wants to pay for all these great features that Sony put in that Price Box of theres.
O well more power to Xbox for doing it right!!! I think most of us on Driverheaven will be proud of Sony's disaster.

power to the Wii!
if the wii flies off the shelf as well as it is now, and continues to do, for some time yet, i wouldn't be serprised if nintendo would have a more powerful system (fuelling up for a state of the art console for the next gen consoles about 4-5 years from now)

The wii will not sell as well as the 360 has after its launch. Thing is with nintendo those who will buy it usually buy it early but I don't think it will beat the 360 in terms of sales. Its pretty much a gamecube with a better controller. Fun as hell? yes, but we will see how the wii will do.

I wouldn't say its dumb stuff. Just mainly offensive. We'll see who is laughing if and when I am right.

the wii will continue to sell like hotcakes, simply because they stole everyone elses thunder....
...they took guitar hero/DDR and applied it to a system.
Also, at $250, anyone can afford one, so they will sell like wildfire, simply because they are within the range of a common "gift" for msot anyone, unlie the $600 PS3, or even $400 360, which many would qualify as "a spoiled kid's Xmas gift"

good point but if you had an HDTV (or do rather) which would you buy?
I think most people would buy a 360 first for the damn good titles and then the wii if they have the extra cash. It also depends on how hard they can hit their market (which is everyone).
Also Christmas is gone and people have jobs

Wii is for little kids, whereas the PS3 and 360 are for the older generations
I for one will be getting a PS3 after the first price drop, along with a nice 52" 1080P LCD

Are you sure you want to get a PS3? Do you really think it's that good of a system. I would like to tell you when I say the 360 will look better in almost every dual format game because the PS3 just does not have the hardware to support high res anything lol.

There are a couple of games coming to the PS3 I want - don't worry - I'll have a 360 too
Plus I want a Blue Ray player + the PS3 will be cheaper than any standalone BR player.
There are definitely more good games on the 360 - but then it has been out now for 14 months.

Are you sure you want a PS3. I know some people that have the $ to get one (not me $600 is too much) and they are not at all impressed with the horrible load times from the BR drive.
