Bohemia Interactive has released a playable demo for Armed Assault (a.k.a. ArmA), offering an opportunity to try out their contemporary tactical first-person shooter that is already out in Europe. This demo contains the southern part of the Sahrani island, three multiplayer modes, and a basic selection of the full game's vehicles and weapons.

This is one weird ass game.
It seems a little like Joint Operations but not as good. Right now there aren't many servers in the US and I hate pings over 75ms to 80ms. When there are more servers playable at these pings and when I figure out all the key commands and get the settings where it is playable my opinion might change. As of now it feels like a budget bin 19.99 failure before it is even released on this side of the world.

Man this runs like crap on my system (AMD 4200+ X2 @ 2.5Ghz, 2GB PC4000, Radeon X1800XT OC'd...), it's fine if there aren't any NPC's but it really is a system hog. I can't see why because visually it's not all that impressive. And it looks like BI still can't produce high quality sound, the sound effects are just as bad as OFP.

Oh well another let down to add to the 2006 list, man this year has sucked.

Should run decent.

CPU: 3.0 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
RAM: 1 GB
Graphics card: Nvidia Geforce 6800 series or ATI Radeon X800 series or higher

im downloading now, so ill let you know if it runs decent on my X850XTPE

Ya, there was allot of people chatting about sound issues. I also found the graphics nothing to write home about. My system sucks for todays standards but its not just the eye candy that sucks, its all the models and skins and the geometry that sucks. I am not hip to gliding around the map as a seagull in between spawns either. This is a beta version of an unfinished game at best.

There are people with better systems than that having problems (FPS= 15 etc), there's even a couple of people on the official forum with [COLOR=#000000]8800GTX's and low frame rates

Hmm... i was just going with what the site said, i think the game looks like crap but thats my opinion, id stick with COD2 if you want a good war game

It's not a bad game. Buggy, but not bad. Though, I dont like it, there aer a lot of people who like that game. Imo it's too simulation and that kills the gameplay.

Well the whole point is it being a realism game (wtf is the third person all about?), so your downpoint there is a good point

I'm sick of the crappy performance though so I'm giving up on this one.

The physics and models of the choppers remind me of some of those old CS maps that had choppers that were on a static path and just kept circling the map with snipers inside.

Does anybody notice an option anywhere to turn off non English voice chat? Everybody is talking Japanese.

Is 5:4 TFT screen option for a 20.1 LCD?
