I can't see the point of discussion here!?! The respective development firm clearly has legal right of ownership. They set the "terms of service", or End User License Agreement, and players don't have rights outside of that.
Now, to my understanding, Second Life is intended to be different. Companies have tried promoting this concept before, with limited success. But discussing Second Life has no bearing WoW or EQ, regardless of the fantasies of the player base.
