US PS3 shipments could be halved, says analyst

Ahead of the launch of the PlayStation 3 in the US, Lazard Capital Markets believes Sony will only be able to ship between 150,000 and 200,000 units to retail shelves.

The figure is half that promised by Ken Kuturagi back in September after the announcement of a delay to the consoles launch in PAL regions.
"We expect Sony to deliver 150-200k units to stores in the United States for the launch; consumers without pre-orders may find it difficult to locate an available system," said Lazard's Colin Sebastian.

ive slept for all of 2 1/2 hours in the last 2 days. ive waited in 3 diffrent lines and spent about 5 hours on diffrent online sites.

i got a damn display box out of all of it.

spent 3 hours freezing my ass off at sears this morning waiting for a console. when i, adn every one else called last night, they said they would have the consoles in in the morning. well the very small group of us are all waiting and theres no systems. we bitch to the manager, he calls the head office and finds out they were never shipped.

i called back awhile ago and it turns out that sears wont even be handleing the damn thing...

Can I ask a serious question, Why? What are you looking forward to most, what is it thats driving you? Is it a particular game, is it to play with the hardware, is it so you can tell everyone you have a PS3, is it for resale to make a bit cash, is it for a review? Im not being funny im just curious why you have gone to all the effort you have. Thanks.

simply put, i want a nice big 1080P HDTV. i figured if i could sell the system for 3500-4000 i could pick up a really nice tv.

if it went higher then that, then it all was going into my corvette restoration saveings fund.

as for calling these places, i called several times. they all said they would have systems in.
