DH Review: Project Gotham Racing 3 - Xbox 360

Well this certainly isnt a new title however many people in the UK are only just able to get the consoles so we will be taking a look at some of the hot Xbox 360 titles to spend your hard earned money on.

Andy has taken at the amazing Project Gotham Racing 3 and has also included a 40meg+ MP4 video file for your enjoyment!

"The next generation of gaming is finally upon us with the launch of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 which is sure to bring with it some innovative titles. However today we’re looking at the return of an old favorite. The Project Gotham Racing series, originally started on Xbox, is famous for its innovative blend of simulation and arcade physics and creating a memorable drifting experience. PGR3 was a launch title for the new 360 and is essentially a revamped version of PGR2 with a few extra features including Gotham TV. So as well as being one of your first chances to experience all the 360 has to offer, chances are that PGR3 will most likely be your only way to get behind the wheel of the world’s fastest super cars…let’s see what it’s like.."

Nice to see what it's like. The "cockpit" view looked better than in any othe racing game I've seen. Including videos in the reviews remains a great idea.

Wouldn't call this one a sim. Too bad the physics don't show off Xbox360's power. Too arcadish...

But then again, super hardcore sims (a la RBR) is in the category where people scream it's too hard.
Good review. Slight note that when you wrap up a review, I suggest you not to use "In conclusion." Use more creativity there!

There are some parts where it is too aracadish (especially when cars go flying off of ramps ) but when you're going down a major straightaway at 200+ MPH and everything starts to get shaky it feels real intense. There are games out there that have much more realistic racing physics, but this game is pretty good compared to Ridge Racer 6 in this respect

I'll try to have more creative conclusions in the future you guys also

Great review of what has to be the best game on the 360 so far.

I have to agree with Vesper though, that the game is more arcadish than sim like, but not by much. By that I mean the car phsyics don't handle to sim spec, nor are there any real repurcusions for poor drivering (by way of damage, and what not). Sometime I wish there were as it would weed out the push-off turners, and starting line tail tappers. Although, in a way, having sim specs would hurt the game. As it is the lack of damage, and what not keeps the pace of the game fast and furious, and I find myself flying by the seat of my pants sometimes in the fastest cars (like running some of the Nürburgring F1 tracks in a Ferrari F50GT or a Koenigsegg CCR, which while it's not the best car (the F50GT takes that honor), it is the fastest one in the game)... what a rush.

I've never liked the previous PGR series before now, and for me to be enjoying a racing game longer than a week other than a Rally styled one says a lot about PGR3. Such a great game.

This is one of the games that my son has for his XBOX 360 at the store. This game looks AMAZING on that 62 inch HDTV it's connected to.

I was amazed at the city/landscape detail as he was playing.

Ridge Racer is pretty damn fun (original ones).
PGR3 is all about visuals IMO. Shaky... but will it scare you off? Try Joux Plane in RBR. It sure as hell will scare you. No, no, not the F.E.A.R. way

I'm really glad this game has gotten back to international racing routes not just "Underground" oor "Urban". I love that shaking effect I saw in the video and the interior is just what every racing game should have.

Agree with the review completely. PGR is a visually stunning game that hints at the potential of next gen games. Ive never really been one for racing games but this has actually changed that and I now look forward to burnin rubber.
One thing I have noticed is how simple the single player game can be after prolonged periods of online racing, somehow real life really shows the flaws in computer AI, something I have only just noticed since playing on live.
