Xbox 360 Gamer Tag Thread

I had originally intended to make a thread based around the Xbox 360 Gamer Cards; how to imbed them, and how to use them in general. Lelisevis' post in the "Calling all Xbox 360 Owners" thread was the final push I needed to start it. This thread will start off with instructions on how to incorporate your gamer card into threads using various techniques. I'm hoping to have following posts be from members with their gamer cards listed.

There are 2 main sites dealing with gamer cards: the main Xbox Mygamer Card site, and MyGamerCard.net.

The easiest one to follow is MyGamerCard.net as they will generate various URL/Codes/JGPs based on the name you input at the top of the page. I should point out that DH forums use vBulletin (PHP), and as such will easily accept postings based on BBCode format.

So, by pasting the following code into a thread:

(warning: do not copy/paste this from here cuz you will copy the HTML coding along with the text. follow the site link to generate a code based on your name instead. You can also copy/paste the text into a text file since you'd lose the html coding, edit it the way you want, then copy/paste it back here.)

The above code would generate this picture:

*Mac OSX 10.4 users: I've got something special for you folks. You can add a simple Xbox 360 Gamer Card Widget to your desktops by following THIS link. Add the widget to your desktop, and enter your gamer tag.*

With that format you would be able to easily insert your Xbox 360 Gamer Tag into any posting on the DH forum, and just as easily add it as your signature. Please be kind though, and don't overdue it. I had originally added it to my signature, and in the end opted not to as the DH signature became too big with all the other crud in it. If you have alot of info in your sig already you might want to opt to link to your card instead like I did. For other ways of using the gamer tag, such as adding cards to your desktop (you can add web links to your XP desktop which is as close as we Windows users will get to widgets for now), creating flash based interactive cards for incorporating them into webpages, and others just follow the other examples on both sites listed above. Pay close attention to each pages explanation on what to do with gamer tags that have spaces in them (with MyGamerTag.net you should replace the space with a + sign, and with the Microsoft one it is a % sign).

That about raps it up. So, enjoy folks, and start posting those Gamer Cards!

Just to update this:

There are 2 sites offering ways to create gamertags: the original MyGamerCard.net, and MyGamerTag.com. You can checkout a preview of MyGamerCard.net's updated themes HERE, and MyGamerTag.com's themes HERE. Both sites offer a varity of different styles of themes, including a signature style like the one I have. I still prefer MyGamerCard.net as they make it real simple to pick the theme you want to use (however MyGamerTag seems to use a higher rez image), and frankly, they have better themes.

For MyGamerCard.net just enter your tag, hit the "Card Gallery" button, pick the card you want to use, you can change the theme to use if you want (each card has a different set of themes for it), and then hit the "Generate Card" button. Then below you will see a congrats window, and just hit the tabs to pick the type of tag to use based on where it's going to be used (in DH's case, you want the Forums tab).

BTW, BBCode works perfectly on DriverHeaven, and it's probably the best one to choose.

Edit: I wish I could use the flash code as that would make the tags interactive, but.. they just don't work here. Oh well.

Nice choice for your first 2 games.

Infact, PGR3 is so good that it just happens to be the only launch title I still have, and the only one I won't part with... ever. Ok.. maybe when PGR4 comes out... but not until then.
