Re-installing old games

I was looking through my bro's games and happened to find Doom 3 and Thief 3. I have been thinking to myself for 2 days trying to think if the games are even worth the space it takes to install. What are you guys views on this? And why do you like a certain one of those games?

i throw most of my old games back on my HD just because. currently ive got doom3 + ROE, Dawn of War + Winter Assault, Half life + HL2 + CS + CSS, Need for Speed Underground 2, and BattleField 2. only games i really play anymore is WA and BF2, although i have started playing ROE again.

when ever i get a 2nd hard drive, ill be throwing on the rest of my games ive got laying around here. Farcry, Painkiller, Starcraft + broodwar, Diablo 2 + LOD, Halo, Max Payne + MP 2, GTA: San Andreas. and i think that pretty much covers it.

i may not use them very often, but theyll be there for whenever i do want to play them.

Good advice. I'm goin to be getting Halo soon because I was a Halo Champ for Xbox. I have to admit I suck at Halo 2 (because it is not as good as Halo 1). But back in the day I would do 17 on one, the only time they could kill me was when I ran out of bullets in my sniper and pistol, even then it was hard for them because I was a bunny. I suppose I will have my rear handed to me when I pick up the PC version.

You know, I just the other day picked up the first HALO for my PC. One reason is because my son and daughter-in-law are HUGE Halo fans. (SFOSOK, I would honestly believe my d-i-l could whip your backside. )

Here's how 'avid' they are:

My son is the manager of a comic books and games store in N. Marietta. Earlier this year he invested his own money in 4 27" Flatscreen TVs, 4 XBOXes w/ accessories, and a few games -- including, of course, HALO. They also now have HALO 2.

He and I worked together to build two roll-around tables so that these 4 TVs would face alternating directions -- 2 one way, 2 the other. He has them so that up to 8 people (there could actually be 16, but the screens are too small) can play the video games. They also have some tennis, football, and others. The owner of the store was so impressed with how this worked that he went out and bought a 63" wide screen TV and installed yet another XBOX on it.

Well, the long and short of it is, I'd really like to be able to play some of their games but haven't been using a gamepad in ages. That's one reason I picked up an "XBOX style" gamepad for my PC a couple weeks ago and also why I picked up HALO. I actually find myself enjoying it. (BUT, I don't want to get too far removed from my main gaming right now.)

As for the store my son manages, it focuses on tabletop games like the original D&D-type games. They have several tables and have tournaments, and such there.

As for some of the old games I still play:

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - The Fallen is one of the first games I install after any new install of Windows.

I still have HL-2 and the other 'freebies' from Valve installed.

I started both Doom 3 and Thief: Deadly Shadows, but got pulled away for some reason I can't put my finger on.

Of course, I'm still playing Morrowind.....for about the 7th attempt since I first got it ... what, 4 years ago?

Also, I'd like to continue my adventure with the NWN's character I have. I finished NWN and Shadows of Undrentide, but got stuck in Hordes of the Underdark.

I still like to start up Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. I've already completed it three times...last time on Expert.

There are others, but, I've already worn out my fingers typing. LOL!

i don't really install many games on my rig. mainly because i reformat so often that i'm just too lazy to reinstall all the games that were previously installed . Currently i only have BF2, HL2, Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising, and Theif: Deadly Shadows installed. Though of all those games, the only one i've been playing latley has been BF2 . If i weren't so much of a format freak, or i had one HDD dedicated specifically to games and nothing else, then i would probably have all my games i own installed onto it.

Have him play me when I buy it.

Things I'm proud of from the first game for Xbox (just to see if he stacks up)

Fitting every single vehicle in a blood Gulch base (yes both tanks included)
1 shot 3 kills with a sniper.
1 shot 2 kills in which there were three in a speeding warthog and I shot through ones head to the other.

Last but not least two warthogs tried to ram me when I had a rocket, I did not have time for two shots so I waited and jumped up in the air fired a rocket at the ground where both worthogs connected and kill 4 people.

also 15 v 1 (just for fun) my score at the end was 50 (the limit) 3.
