Black & White 2
I get terrible performance even on lowest settings. Average FPS are arround 15 and at times they fall to 3FPS.
Using latest OMEGA's
AndyR's Remix v2.5.1 drivers for motherboard
I applied the 1.1 patch but it made no difference.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I think I know why:
Dunno what could have done this. I'm using the latest Omegas so maybe Omegadrive accidently did something wrong? I looked on the official forums and a lot of people with Omega drivers seem to be having this problem as well.

Ive got two suggestions. Like me you are useing a 9800 pro which for some reason ATI still has not got around to fixing the issues that they brought up with the 5.7 driver. The 5.6 driver works fine for almost any game and gets rid of most of the problems that people have in most of the newer games. As far as I know, this is a ATI 9800 pro driver bug that was quite possible introduced back when ATI 'Optimized' 64 and 128 meg video cards in the 5.7 patch. There are currently 5 video games that dont like the 5.7+ driver.
Black and White 2 doesnt seem to have this 'Driver' bug with the 5.9, but I am currently useing the STOCK Ati driver to play black and white with. If I try to play any of the other 5 games, the 5.7+ driver bug pops up.
It could be ither of these two things.
-You are useing a 9800 pro, try backing your driver down to 5.6.
-Maybe when you reinstalled your drivers, it didnt totaly clean it out. Check it out.

Usually when I install the a new driver I uninstal the previous one and then in safe mode run DC. But according to OMEGA, if U upgrade an OMEGA driver set to a newer OMEGA driver set than all U have to do is install the newer drivers.
ps. Will try the stock ATI 5.6 drivers.

Well if it can help console you, I'm running an X850XT and get terrible performance too. I think the game is just pretty demanding.
Running 1280x1024, Low Anti-Aliasing (guessing it's 2x)
All other settings on High/On
Average: 20FPS
Low: 12FPS
High: 45FPS
I tried reducing the resolution to 1024x768 but I barely picked up any framerates at all. In my case, it's much better to leave it at 1280x1024 seeing as it's my LCD's native resolution but I'm just getting horrid performance, especially in attacks/raids. And I just checked my DXDiag and my AGP Texture Acceleration is Enabled using Omega drivers.
[EDIT] Black and White 2 has been patched to 1.1. It's not a performance related patch but it does fix dozens of crashing issues.

I have to say I was wrong about this game, initially I thought it was pretty much like the first but once you get into the game it is really quite charming. worth a look !
Im running it at 1920x1200 on a 7800gtx and performance is top notch. I tried it with a X800 and was amazed how poor it ran especially as the game fires up the ATI logo at the intro.....

The 78.01's have some issues with it, which is probably why they released the 81.84 to fix issues with it. Well since the 81.84 breaks AA for GW (More important than B&W2, to me), I guess I can wait for an official release of a new driver to fix all problems. (Hopefully!) I laughed at that big red screen of an ATI logo. I was hoping for some neat little intro thing, like for UT2K4 and NVIDIA though.
I touched on the original B&W, but I never dove too deep into it since I was playing it with an old Xpert 2000 when it came out. I never went back to play it though.. B&W2 is nice. Lionhead Studios does a good on these "good and evil" decision making games. ie: Fable

no idea, pretty strange to me.
I also went from disliking this game to thinking it was brilliant to now thinking its probably one of the most wonderful games ive played, ever. I dont say that lightly either, I worked last night to around 11pm, then fired this up and sat until 3am, im paying for it now mind you as im not getting any younger, but it is such a "different" title, a wonderful concept executed almost perfectly. ive lost sleep now for a few days, wonderful stuff. the more you put in, the more you get out.
I bought the collectors edition today, you get a tiger unlocker which is pretty cool as well as a making of DVD...

on "global" games like that, textures have a big affect, try trilinear intead of AF and see if it helps a good bit

Anyone figure out what the hell that heartbeat noise is? It's driving me nuts, especially because it's low-tone and goes through my subwoofer so all I hear is "boom boom" every few seconds.

I normally hear it during battles, I guess it is meant to add to the tension.

try mapping the subwoofer to the center channel, if you have a creative card
