Best graphics?
So according to you guys, what games got the best graphics in the wolrd?
I must say for me, HL2 blew me away at the time...
Same for Far Cry and Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed was gorgeous too!

F.E.A.R. looks preaty mean, not sure what engine they use. Also BF2 (if you look at how big and wide open the maps can be) has amazing graphics.

Doom 3 was pretty sexy. HL2 is right up there too. BF2 would have to be my current favorite for looks.
Nothing really strikes me like the first time I fired up Unreal on my Gateway in like '97 and watched that castle flyby sequence rendered in beautiful Glide on my new phatass Voodoo 3 3000 with 16MB of vram . Since then I'm just sorta like 'oh neat' when I see a new game, or more precisely, new techonology tacked onto an old game.

I haven't really had the time to play all the games in the world, but I'll get round to it one of these days. Of the games I've played so far, I'd say HL2. Some scenes are an almost perfect blend of technology and great artwork.
F.E.A.R. looks good, but it's rather dark than anything else. It really has some nice reflections and effects, but, above all, it's (too) dark.

Flatout has some of the best models I've ever seen......especially as far as damage accuracy goes.
Skin wise....the high res patch for Tribes 2 back in the day ROCKED
all in all though....Unreal 2007 will be your daddy

F.E.A.R. most demanding right now. During its time I would say SOF 2 and Perfect Dark. I also remember a time when my only goal was to get a computer that could run the first hitman, geez that was sad.

Far cry has wowed me more times than any game in the last few years. Each stage was an eye opener for depth of view, water , and texture quality. I've yet to play halflife 2 though.

From a fps game hl2/far cry best, and i agree with pr0digal on flatout damage accuracy.
for a strategy game i give age of empires 3 the crown currently if the screenys are anything 2 go by

HL2 has got to be the most beautiful game I have ever played.I have spent time looking at things as simple as clothing on characters and been amazed by the details,I mean have you ever taken the time to look at Dr.Mossman's sweater(no not THAT way, Alyx is the hot one) the ragged holes etc are just mindnumbing to me the attention to detail.

Fear is nice but the demo didn't blow me away... Just made me say: Purty.
The first time I was in that train in HL2 and saw some dude speak, my jaw fell. Seriously, I've never seen such good facial animation in anything yet. That was just mind blowing!

first time my jaw hit the ground was with FarCry. probably because it was the first game that pushed my new system. hell, the day i built this thing i went out and bought FC. up until that point, hte most graphicly impresive games i was playing were Diablo 2 LOD and Counter-strike. no AA/AF on either, 800x600 res, 30fps max.
seeing farcry in all its glory with everything maxed and being able to play it on my own system was simply amazing.
personaly though, i think FEAR looks to be the best graphicly impressive game right now. it has a texture quality that, at the very least, equals half life 2. and its got a lighting system that surpasses doom3. the game looks simply amazing.

But it's just sooo damn blocky and all. I found it uninspired and missing the "magic".

For me it is Far Cry.. soon I will see it in it's full glory with a better GFX card..
HL2 was good, but the low res textures put it below the IQ of Far Cry I think.. FEAR is good too.

Farcry.
Next up is SWG (Star Wars Galaxies). Of course the bastard thing is a super-resource hog and limited to 30fps no matter what.

Doom3 is ugly as sin, those textures make me sick... Their pathetic... they used dynamic lighting and shadows to give the "cool" feel... but only when you're far away from stuff.

FEAR is absolutely gorgeous....and my underpants need changing...that little girl is freaky as hell.
The thing FEAR has going for it is the total "world" feel. The boxes move...bodies flop, walls crumble under heavy machine gun fire, lights flicker and spark, metal pipes dent and spark...they did it right.

I'd have to say that Project Offset could rival most games that are out, and upcoming.

f.e.a.r. looks promising, but I'll reserve judgement till a full product is released. RIght now, I'd have to say HL2, though everything Source I've seen has wowwed me.
