Battlefield 2 Questions
So I've been seriously considering buying Battlefield 2 and was wondering whether or not I should bother given my system spec ??? (see my sig. Nothing OC'd yet)
Is it subscription based same as Everquest??? Cos my fiancee just plain won't let me subscribe to another one.
Finally, how hard is it to copy (backup), cos our 12 year old can destroy a disc in less time than it takes me to drink a beer (quickly!).
What's the protection, Securom New ???
All help much appreciated!

Your system should run Battlefiled fine on lower settings. Last night I was watching someone play with around the same set up you have but he had a 2.6 and it was running fine. And once you buy Battlefiled 2 you can play it as much as you want for free. All you have to do is make a account and you should be set to go. As for the protection I am not sure but if your drive is destroying disks I think some thing has to be wrong with it and mabe you should just go and buy a new one.

'Our 12 year old' is our son. He has a bad habit of absolutely never ever putting games back in their boxes and just leaving them lying on the floor to get stood on etc......
My drives all work just fine thanks.
I'd still like to know what copy protection it has please.....

Yeah, I did google it.
You can't trust everything you read though, and nothing beats experience.
I was hoping for someone who'd already backed it up to tell me how it went.
Google isn't god MiDri, people lie.

Battlefield 2 has very little CD protection because everything is Multiplayer; therefore requiring server-side authentication (user ID and password) to be matched with the included CD key.

So does that mean that I can save the original disc and use a backup all of the time so long as I only use my own account( as I intend to do, not trying to take the p**s here)???

You can download a mini image and always have it mounted on a virtual drive. You won't need the disk past first install, I haven't.

If you will use daemon tools to mount an image to its virtual drive change the drive bus and miniport names from the default ones during install (i think daemon tools is the only one thats works really)

You can also configure the game to play SP as well without having to log in too!

I got a quick BF2 question...
Can any one tell me to get some more performance out of this game? I get no more then 30fps with an avrage of 20... I just can't figure it out!
Running directx with everything set to performance, and all extras (aa) off...
My system specs are:
CPU: AMD XP 2200 (~1.4ghz)
GFX: Saphire Radeon 9800 pro (128mb) (overlocked to 380mhz gpu and 380mhz mem)*
Mem: 512mb DDR400
Mobo: Gigabyte Nforce2
Sound: Built-in Nvidia Monstersound
*I have a 3rd party heatsink and fan, that takes up the entire pci slot bellow the agp slot... and get no artifacts...

With BF2, you may want to upgrade to 1GB(pretty much min requirement) and a sound card. Try updating sound drivers if you haven't already.

In any case, I'd still get some more ram. 1GB is almost a minimum requirement with new games these days.

Definitely morer RAM would be a good idea. Game also seems to be pretty processor intensive so upgrading your proc would help as well.

Its cheaper to just get them built now adays man... check prices... companys are selling alreadybuilt machines for like 200$-300$ less then you can buy the parts and then build it your self...
I've built the last 3 pc's I've had...

Well its offical, I just played on is my best guess a server dedicated to the mentaly retarted youth... Not only did they aquire my blackhawk every chance they got (which they couldent fly, I was only one on the damn server that could fly worth a damn) and then they continutly did stupid things.. like camp enemy non capturable bases wilst we lost our capturable bases... or our squad leaders would piolet/gun attack hoppers or get in general areas where no one could spawn on them... (not so bad, untill we lost all our spawn points... then it would have been handy to be able to spawn... damn retards.)

I was playing on this server and this guy drove all the way across the map so he could blow himself up on my claymore. It was funny as shit.
