Default Post Problem running GTA3

I am using the .71a drivers and they seem to be working well.. I have two problems.. I wonder if anyone has any suggestions..

my setup:

ASUS A7V266E mobo
1800+ AMD-XP
768 DDR
ATI 7500AIW
WinXP Pro

1.) The "alt-G" during a game does not work anymore.. half-life is very dark for me and the alt-G gamma adjustment worked great, but seems to be broken with .71(a)
2.) GTA3 crashes whenever I try to play it.. it crashes on file "ATI2DVAG" and I have to reboot..

Ideas?
Thanks
