This month, a barrage of information was unleashed from this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. The announcements of all three major consoles has sent the hype meter skyrocketing. With all this hustle and bustle of upcoming gaming hardware, games and Star Wars: Episode 3, some of you may have missed some worthwhile games. So let’s see what you may have missed.
PC
Very slow month, it has been for the PC. Another expansion was released for Star Wars: Galaxies dubbed,
Star Wars Galaxies: Episode III Rage of the Wookiees. I find the title humourous.
Sony PlayStation 2
Capcom has taken a different route with their survival horror development with
Haunting Ground. Similar to the approach Konami has with their Silent Hill series, Haunting Ground creates more of an atmosphere of fear. Worth renting if you’re looking for some flavour in your survival horror gaming.
Two metal slugs in one package? Why not?
Metal Slug 4 & 5 features classic side scrolling shooting mayhem which will surely satisfy a weekend rental.
Microsoft X-Box
X-Box racing fans rejoice,
Forza Motorsport has arrived. MS Game Studios has an answer for Sony’s Gran Turismo series and it is one hell of an answer!
Advent Rising (Coming soon on PC). I first saw footage of this on the
Electric Playground show and I was very impressed. That was about a year ago. This game looks great, and the gameplay videos showed off some fun things to do.
Nintendo GameBoy Advance
Looking for some new games for your GBA or DS? Check out
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones and
WarioWare: Twisted!. Two great games which will justify your DS purchase or convince you to keep your GBA around longer.
Conclusion
With absolutely no worthwhile GameCube titles to mention this month and the only significant title I can see coming for the GameCube is Zelda: The Twilight Princess, is the GameCube already running of steam? I hope not.
Can you believe it? Half a year is already gone by. The 2nd half of 2005 promises great games such as
F.E.A.R and
Battlefield 2. Until next time, happy gaming everyone!
