What about the Nintendo REvolution??!!!
Hey Guys,
you just startet this poll about the TV Special about the Xbox 360! But why can you just answer something like: "Sony will do better!", and not something like "Sony and Nintendo will do better!"???!
Either you take it for granted that Nintendo will do better, or you just missed the probably most important firm in terms of video consoles!
You probably have forgotten the fact, that without Nintendo the PlayStation wouldn't even exist!!
I hope, that you will change that, in order to be neutral!
Greetz,
SilverFox

I think they will all be successful. I just hope that there are more original games, rather than port upon port to all systems; it gives the systems less of an identity.

I do not like Nintendo games
They are so childish
So unless they are planning to add some games for more mature audience then and only then i will buy one
For now in my shopping list is only a XBOX360 or a PS3

Where do you live when you think that it's childish to kill tons of zombies with a shotgun (Resident Evil) or to kill aliens with rockets and beams (Metroid Prime) or to sneak through enemy bases and kill agents and soldiers (Splinter Cell, Metal Gear Solid).
Have you ever seen the cutscene, where DeepThroat kills several soldiers brutally and after that the walls are blood-spattered. I don't want my little sister to see that!
So you better think before you foredoom Nintendo like that!
Besides: Without Nintendo the PlayStation wouldn't even exist!

Nintendo will fail again. On AVERAGE, nintendo has baby games compared to Sony and Microsoft and that's hte down fall.
Who cares if without nintendo sony wouldn't exist? The past is the past... The revolution has lost factor5 which I think was one of the greatest things the gamecube had! I mean, they are really not gonna do well this time, especially coming last into the console war!

... nintendo's biggest pitfall was the n64. Sure there were a few outstanding games but overall the system lost them many of their biggest partnerships (capcom, kanomi...). That and they released the system two years later than they should have.
The system was a prime example of too little too late. This coming right after their failed piece of hardware the virtual boy. (if the VB would have been colour and used CDs it would have been an awesome piece of hardware. Though nintendo was making bad choices at the time.)
The gamecube made up for it. Here was a cheap little piece of hardware that is as graphically powerful as the x-box(my opinion). They actually converted capcom back to them.
Nintendo has a long road ahead of itself, but if they dig in hard enough I'm guessing they will claw their way back to the top. Though it wont be until the generation after next. The revolution will be a good peice of hardware, lets hope the get lots of good games other than proprietary licenses.

Well said MSX. I was just about to post that before I went to work, but I ran out of time. Nintendo's GameCube was a great piece of hardware for an outstanding price, but the games were just a little late. Sure, you get RE and MGS, but the people who enjoyed those games are in the Sony camp already.
Nintendo's Revolution is rumored to make its appearance in Q4 of 2006. PS3 is slated for Q2, you can see how late they're going to be. They were definitely not ready for E3, in terms of next gen. One has to wonder what Nintendo is doing these days. Introducing the GameBoy Micro thing? C'mon. The DS isn't even sending significant ripples in the portable gaming anymore.
Nintendo has to shape up or else they're gonna be ending up like Sega developing for the other two platforms. I'm sure Microsoft or Sony wouln't mind adding another Metroid Prime 3 or Zelda: <insert subtitle here> to their already superb lineup of games.
P.S - Nintendo's GC has been haunted with their "baby" game status since launch and that's something that they do not deserve with games such as Metroid Prime, Eternal Darkness and Resident Evils on those consoles now. So if they want the Revolution to do well
1) Debut with Metroid Prime 3 and some other AAA.
2) Price the consoles under the other big 2, which I think they can if they're skimping on the hardware power.
3) Simultaneous worldwide availability.

I think you hit the nail on the head no style. They will also need stronger support from their 3rd parties imo, and again, will hopefully get games that deviate from the competition, or if ports, add some features/changes.

... and you base this on what exactly? Hmm? Oh yeah, you base it on your opinion. Uh, thanks for the input.
Right now, all we have to go on is there will be a few systems. Rev and 360 have quite similar hardware and ps3 has something different.
The ps3 will have the greater math processing power and the other two will have better graphics(if only slightly). Which is kind of a repeat of the current generation. With consoles you just have to remember one thing: Whoever has the games has the power. Thats why the SNES was around for so long after its prime. By looking at the hardware and starting linup you cannot possibly predict which system is going to have the most hit games.
How good a system is really comes down to an afterthought. We won't know who is the 'winner' for a few years after systems are released.

You can base console success on 3rd party support though. That's what Nintendo had over Sega back in the day, a lot of third party support.

Yes your exactly right. I was talking hit games in general, 3rd party or not.
Licences for classic characters will help keep the old auidence but won't attract many new gamers. Good fresh games are what a console needs to be strong.
