Boiling Point: Road to Hell
no ones mentioned it so i figured i should
its a very fun game reminds me of gta, but in the jungle. lots of rpg elements (plants fish snakes to kill and sell).
theres cars, boats, airplanes, helicopters, and attack boats. you have to get a book to learn how to use one of them first, you also have to keep a supply of extra tires (you can steal them from other cars) in case you run across a shootout happening in the road (you get to fix your own tires).
the main mission is finding your daughter. you have to do the side missions to get enough money to do the main mission. lots of side missions
you can get upgrades for your weapons (lots of weapons) to increase the firing range.
first screenshot is the city you start out in
one of the first things to stick out is the size of the freaking map.
i tried to slap it together, it isnt the greatest. the green parts are where i have been.
heres me driving down the road (you can have third person for driving, i perfer first)
one of the many camps
your char profile and inventory screen
now the bad things:
its a bit buggy.
your car likes to disappear at times (i notice it happening after you finish vehicle training and some missions).
flying people.
dialogs cut out randomly.
its goes slowwwy unless you tweak the game options a bit (turning off dynamic shadows and glowing helps, i dont play with any aa at the moment)
i havent had it crash yet though
edit: i forgot to mention no loading screens (if you ignore the first one, plus quickload is pretty quick).
a patch is also out its said to fix the disappearing cars (along with other stuff).

you probably need to turn down the graphics, a fast harddrive is also good, and lots of ram.
heres my game.ini, might help run the game better

Well after reading about the game and this thread I went out and bought it. what a mistake that was.
This game is so bug laden its incredible, glitches galore, and the control system is terrible as well. the cars handling is just so poor and the overall atmosphere just sucks. even with the patch!
As for the sound, its not even 5.1 digital - its a piss poor stereo and with my audigy 2ZS and creative gigaworks sounds like arse, terrible audio, and the voice acting is awful too
I was really looking forward to this but its just a total disappointment. purchase with caution.

Why would anyone publish a PC game in plain old stereo these days?

lol I think thats the least of the games worries. even if the background noises are 3x as loud as the people are you talking to.
so far ive seen.
rats in buildings moving about 1 foot back and forward at around 100 mph, quite funny.
Car collison detection is off by a mile, the tyres even go INTO the road as you move around.
Your character can walk partially into walls and when you enter or leave the car depending on the angle, his head actually goes right through the car frame.
The audio pops and crackles in certain areas, and the engine is extremely poorly optimised. ive tested this game on 3 systems and a more complex engine such as Doom3 runs 5x faster.
The more I play this the worse it gets, but im deinstalling it now, its terrible.

turn off shadows and glow. 2 gigs would be better for this game.
also defragging the partition its on will help out.
