Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory -- How do you take a Screenshot?
I've read and re-read the manual, checked and re-checked the Key Configuration, and there appears to be no ingame method of capturing a screenshot.
What I've had to resort to doing is sending the game out also to my other computer where I have the video capture set up. I can easily capture shots that way. BUT, those shots are not a crisp and clean as the ones I would get from an ingame capture method.
The second method is to use the Print Screen key and then leave the game while I Paste the contents of the Windows Clipboard into an image editing program. This is the most distasteful method of the two.
This game is just too gorgeous to not get some nice shots at various places. So, if anyone has come across how to do it in game, I'd appreciate the info.
Of course, I'm aware of 3rd party softward that can be made to do this. I've used a few of them. But, surely this game has some method that can be used.
TIA

My main and only objection is my reluctance to having another program running while playing. Besides the additional resources needed, I often forget to start up the 'other' program before starting the game. Then I have to stop the game in order to start up something like this. Just a lot of hassle that I feel is unnecessary.

Omg you noob. Fraps uses 0 system resources unless you actually capture with it.
How do you think websites benchmark games without fps meters and screenshot support? Fraps

I'm a longtime lurker, not a poster
Look we're all fairly tech savy or we wouldnt be on DH correct? I just found his statement slightly ignorant since he blew it off without even testing the recommended program "fraps".
Don't knock it before you try it.

First of all, I HAVE tried FRAPS some time ago. I've also tried a few other little apps that do the same things essentially.
Part of my response was completely ignored: I don't like having to start another program when I intend to play a game. (It's my opinion that a game should have its own method of capturing stills.)
So, as most everyone who's been around DH since it's inception knows, I've got a few miles on my experience belt.
And, I said all that without the first hint of an insult.

So your stubborn then Not all games allow you to take in game screenshots and since no one replied with the key I guess it isnt possible with SC3.
Noob just isnt an insult in the places I hang about...

A little more digging around to find out if the game does allow ingame screen capture.
As I read the SplinterCell3User.ini file, there's a setting that says:
F9=Shot
From all the other games I've played, THAT should be that the F9 key takes a screenshot. But, it doesn't work.
At least the game DOES allow the use of the ALT-TAB so that you can use the PRT SC/SysRq key to capture to the clipboard and then open your graphics program and paste it there.

Re :
Open Splintercell3user.ini
Search for [Engine Input]
Scrol down in this section till u see key configuring.
add a string for example the F9 key.
U can use every Fxx key wich is unused , for example add this string:
F9=Shot
play the game press F9 and the screenshot wil be created.
I don't know where the screenshot will be saved
But what i remember that the default key = F12

F12 doesn't work for me. I've tried it. At least I haven't found any screenshots anywhere that may have been created after using it.

I'm sure F12 works dude, it works for most of my friends, me as well. Maybe there's an issue with your installation?
I finished the game some time ago, great game, smashing performance, nice one Render graphics, sweet publish Ubi,and to think I used to laugh if a game had Ubisoft on it!

Where do the screenshots get sent to?
I've reinstalled the game after a fresh install of Windows XP SP2 and then updated the game with the 1.02 patch. The game plays and looks fantastic. But, whatever the ingame capture key is, it's not working....or sending the screenshots somewhere other than the default location in Program Files, or the Documents and Settings folder where the saved games are being sent.
