The June issue of PCGamer UK has a lovely spead on Quake 4, looks...nasty, that along with Prey look like a couple of Doom 3 games that rely less on dark corridors and more on real gameplay, hopefully.

Games like Doom 3 where centered more around scearing the user then actuley making them enjoy the game ! and it allso has pore level design and only can achive above 30fps with a GF card! stupid ID what dumbasses ! they lost more then half their customers because of no real ATI support how GAY!

Given that a 9800pro still costs about $300 Canadian, designing games for 2 generations out (FUDO) is fairly ridiculous. Although it will mean a longer shelf-life for these games, I think this technique really hampers early product sales.
HL2 on my 9700pro runs decently, but it still has alot of headroom (both AA/Antistropic and res wise) and the Doom3 demo crawled. I'll be staying far away from Quake 4 until 2007/2008.
