Xbox 360
I saw parts of the show on Thursday, and I must say that I was impressed with what the Xbox 360 has to offer. To tell you the truth; I can't wait until the Next-Gen Madden comes out. That game looked amazing in the short spurts that I got to see it during the show. But, I wanted to get all of your opinions on how great this next system will be, and what you got out of the MTV special.

Kind of expected a more balanced/constructive response on this forum. Not one person on earth can deny that the specs that have been posted are awe-inspiring and a huge pointer to the direction of the PC market. Im not a big console user and im not suddenly going to change overnight much prefering the more upgradeable PC but I see this as a step in the right direction and im sure we all will benefit from the technologies developed which I imagine have been largely funded by the corporate tidal-wave that is Microsoft.

they are mass marketing the thing like its the begining of a new revolution. Its not even for sale yet, though its advertsed on t.v, theres numerous threads in almost every forum about it. It doesnt even look that attractive, but im sure the specs are impressive, its not all as good as everyone will think. While the secret weapon of the PS3 waits like a silent sniper in the backround for all the XBOX fans to be dissapointed!
Bill Gates is laughing all the way to the bank!

I personally was not impressed. Most of the clips shown looked pre-rendered to me. The only games that looked like they weren't rendered was the Tony Hawk game and the Tiger Woods game, and those didn't drop my jaw.

Did any of you see that Madden Next-Gen game? I thought it looked like it was real life. Any thoughts?

The one thing what really impressed me was the short clip of Gears of War.. The way it looked was just jawdropping Seeing you saw a crosshair it gave the impression of Ingame footage instead of prerendere.
It shows what the new Unreal 3.0 Engine is capable off.. Best thing is that it will also appear on PC..

The demo's were not exactly brilliant but then again they weren't ran on an XBOX 360 as such. Try digging out some of the pre-release footage of halo and compare it to the finished game. Yes microsoft have shot themselves in the foot, dashing out a pretty flimsy launch evening but no-one can deny those specs are impressive. Im in the lucky position of being able to buy pretty much what I want so no doubt come release time I will pick up all 3 next gen models but just like the originals after a few months they will be confined to my hardware cupboard and i'll return to my trusty PC. Lets just wait till we have seen the hardware in action before we pull it to pieces.
PS I dislike microsofts monopoly just as much as anyone else but i'll support anything that contributes to an increased gaming experience for myself.

I would like to see the Playstation 3 launch before I judge how good the Xbox 360 is.

I totally agree. I'm also looking forward to the PS3 and Ninty's next toy because as long as we have all these different formats producing exclusive titles it's the only way I can keep up with my favourite games such as the final fantasy series.

I think that the playing field will be leveled with these new consoles. I don't think that the Xbox will dominate again.

I appreciate Microsoft's presence on the console scene. They really raised the bar with the X-Box's hardware power and now Sony is forced to match it. Exciting times ahead.
The greatest piece of appreciation I have for the XBox360 is how MS is trying to make the PC platform and the XBox360 platform as one platform. I surely hope this means instant high quality ports from PC to X-Box and vice versa
The greatest piece of appreciation I have for the PS3 is the great third party support from the likes of Capcom, Konami, and Square Enix. Sony's in house developers are also hard at work!
The greatest piece of appreciation I have for the Revolution would probably be Nintendo's pricing strategy. Without using the most powerful pieces of hardware, Nintendo is cutting down on pricing and hopefully drive the other consoles to similar price points. I hope they truly innovate with their games and show the two other big boys that it's not the power of the hardware that matters, it's how you use it.
