Chronicles of Riddick
If anyone is looking for a new XBOX game, make sure to get a hold of Chronicles of Riddick, I havent played the PC version yet but the XBOX version is absolutely beautiful.

Yes it's one of the best games i played in 2004. Both the Xbox and PC version.. Great GFX, great voice acting and a very good story line.. Can't wait for the next game based on the Chronicles Of Riddick. It's nice how they have incorporated the feeling of the movies into the game.

How is the gameplay? I've only heard good things of the game but haven't seen it in action yet, and I will have to wait at least until my graphics card comes back from RMA in a week or two. Like are the controls smooth (PC) and how does it play?

yes everything plays smooth, like a real FPS. But with sneak options so you can hide in the dark get behind an enemy and break his neck or approach him from the front get his gun in the struggle and blow his brains out.
There's also a nice fighting system (what you will use allot) the thing that hit me most is the interaction with the environment. There's always something going on, you can shoot the lights to make everything dark so the guards will have to use their flashlights to see you. You can climb on boxes, hang from them and loads of other stuff and it's all animated very good. You must play this game .. The engine puts the Doom3 engine to shame imho.
The engine is very smooth and loading times aren't long at all

Well ive been amazed at just how much they have pushed the xbox on the GFX side of things, and the gameplay is fantastic. Its the GAME doom3 should have been IMO.
The controller works great for this game but im sure with a card like the 6800 or X800 on the PC at ultra high resolutions it will look even better - im going to pick it up on the PC later as well. I got it on sale today for 19 quid, a bargain.
One NOT to miss, its a total sleeper, people CANT afford to miss this title.

I haven't played it for XBOX, but on the PC, this is an awesome game. The PC version is better because it has some extra content, like a sequence where you get to pilot a riot suit, much like the Heavy Guard sequence later in the game.
Also, I don't know if the whole cigarrette-extra content system is in the XBox version.
Plus, the freaking game is only 30 bucks!

Another plus is the game has a really good lasting appeal. After I quit the first time, I wanted to load it back up again later

Yes as far as i know he practical owns the development company, he has invested allot of money time and effort into this game, can't wait on the next game .. This must be the first Hollywood actor that knows how games should be developed (and i bet he loves playing with himself in the game )

Sounds great. I think I'll play the game before even considering watching the movie though.

Just finished the PC version and well, awesome in almost every way. (SPOILER)
If you want to know what happens to Riddick and Johns, rent or buy the movie "Pitch Black". hmmm, wonder is there will be a Pitch Black video game.

Yeah ive been playing the xbox version for a good 5 hours and its simply incredible, this is without a doubt a much better Doom3 style game - the graphics on this XBOX game are the best ive seen on a console and the gameplay is very varied and the whole thing flows amazingly well. if anyone reading this is wanting a good dark, atmospheric FPS for either the PC or the XBOX this is a MUST. im going to pick up the PC version as well.

It ran REALLY bad for me too, until Big Red told me to uncheck "mode change" in my radlinker shortcut. That should fix it.

i finally got the PC version, cranked it to 1600x1200 and its smooth as silk. and man what a game, still as good as the XBOX version but with graphics which really I have to say look better to me than Doom3, HL2 and possibly even farcry. its unfortunate though to see the occasional little glitch which is only apparent on ATI, hopefully be fixed in a future ATI set. I cant believe how this game has been seemingly totally ignored.

I would have to agree. Hope to see more titles from this studio. What glitches are you seeing?

nothing major really, the odd "flickering" texture on certain sections of skin on some closeup sections and very small things like this. I dont see it on my nvidia card. IQ on both is excellent however.

I just started to play this game, and i really like it so far. The graphics is simply stunning and the gameplay is supernice too
And that Vin Diesel makes the voice for Riddick is awesome, it adds even more "feeling" to the game IMO..
