Arrrrrrgggggghhhhhh!!! DOOM 3 = No Subtitles!!!

I should have looked more closely since the game was released by ActiVision. They have the poorest record of any of the publishers for producing games with Text Captions for the Hearing Impaired/Deaf.

Without the text there's simply no way I can play this game.

Right off the bat, I have to listen to a recorded message that has the code for opening a cabinet. The game developers didn't even have the sense to include this in the PDA for later reference. (Splinter Cell, does an EXCELLENT job on this!)

I'm really disgusted right now.

I never thought about discrimination/unfairness to the disabled in video games. Good point! Maybe you should be the advocate in assuring that people like you can have an equal opportunity to enjoy games like we do.

All you need is a few signatures and a LOUD voice.

I certainly don't blame you, I thought it was annoying, and I don't NEED it to play the damn game. Don't worry though, the game isn't all that impressive with anything but the visuals, so your not missing out on anything, lol.

I complained on another forum and found out that an independent group has created a CC MOD for the game.

I'm going to have to patch the game to 1.1 first and then I'll check it out.

although i think i all games should be subtitled, doom 3 was a piece of crap and the sound did not impress me nor did the dialogue. i think the impaired are not missing anything and have better things to do with their time

i played the HL2 demo and dialogue and facial expressions topped doom 3 10x already.

Well, I <only> paid $29.99 for DOOM 3. I'll get my money's worth, I'm sure.

At any rate, I finally got the Closed Captions working tonight. So, I'll post later just whether I feel the game's really worth it or not. I know a LOT of people waited and waited and waited for this game. Do you think that had anything to do with the disappointment. I know Deus Ex: Invisible War wasn't all that great, either. Although, I did enjoy parts of it.

No, unlike with Splinter Cell, all this information isn't necessarily in the PDA. The various codes are among the things missing.

The Closed Captions are working quite well. It shows ALL the dialogue going on, the announcements over the intercom/PA system, etc.

The modders did a fantastic job on it and hope to make it even better.
