ya HL2 really is a great game.
i dunno why so many people have problems with steam, it works perfectly for me. the first few weeks it came out i absolutly hated it, but after they fixed the initial bugs i love it.

I bought the game at the store and Im on dial up.......It still took me about 2-3 hours to get the game up and running from all the updates, but once it got going it is one of the few games that live up to the hype.

The worst part for me was the authenticating, man that took like an hour and a half and froze several times, but once it's ready to play, you'll be ready to roll. and you'll forget everything it's put you through.

I agree 100% Steam is a pain in the ass but HL2 is amazing especially if your machine has the horsepower to make it purr

That authentication process sounds harsh How long does it take if all goes well? Does it still take long even when all goes well?

I bought the retail for the CD-key, HL2 was already pre-loaded to my puter, so all i did was put the CD in and the CD-key and off it went authenticating, it's supposed to take a couple of minutes, it took so long because it was the launch day and the servers were hammered, i've re-installed since and it's only taken minutes. With the level of warez today I can understand that it has to be done, and I say go for it Valve, they worked there butt off to bring us this game and deserve all the return they get. *thumbs up*
