Guys I am at a huge loss here, been trying to work through this for the past 3 hrs....

I have just installed Far Cry and applied the new 1.3 patch and I get this error msg:

Does anyone know how to fix this? It occurs during install of the new patch. I have ran reg scans and removed dead Far Cry links after a total uninstall and still no joy, I have also downloaded the 1.3 patch from 5 different sources

I don't know exactly what's causing that error Funky Monkey, but I do know that even after un-installing the game and running a reg. cleaner, there was still a large amount of stray FarCry files left in the registry.

I found over 80 left over files in the registry after un-installing it, so I manually searched through the registry and removed all the files.
If all else fails, try un-installing the game again and manually search the registry yourself and delete all the stray files.
After doing this, I've had no problems with the game and 1.3 patch.

Hello Darkoz.

I have discovered what the error is due too. Its a Windows XP installer corruption. I have tried to repair Windows XP, but I ran into many problems since; inc IRQ conflicts during bootup which led too blue screens. I have reinstalled Windows XP from a ghost image I made several weeks back and Far Cry works now with the latest patch applied.

I must have installed that game at least 7 times.
