Sad Excessive HDD on games after copying large files?

Hi All,

I found out that AFTER I ran HDD-intensive application / action, such as DVD creation (4 GB data) or copying large files, then playing 3D games such as BF1942 or Far Cry will cause the excessive HDD activity DURING THE GAME, so much that the gameplay suffers (stutter, slowness, etc.).

But if I reboot and just go straight to the game, no problem.

I defragged my HDD every week using Diskeeper 8.0, turn off NAV and firewall before playing games, and noted that my system doesn't use too much backgroudn services, but still the problem remains.

Any ideas?
