Far Cry patch help
First off, I hope this is the right forum to ask this in..
I got Far Cry a few months back, never installed any of the patches, then I had a few computer issues and formatted, and didn't really install any games again. I finally installed Far Cry again last week, and went to install the 1.1 patch. However, I get this error:
The only reason I can think of for me getting that is that I didn't install the game on C. C is my Windows partition, and is only 5 GB in size, so I install all my games on another partition (E). Is the installer unable to locate the game on my HD because of that?
This is really annoying :/. The 1.2 patch wouldn't install either, so I'm not sure what it could be. Any help?

Thats what the problem is, It cant find the game, i have the same setup, my HD's have 3 partitions, O/S on C, and game on E..but i didnt have any issue with the patch install. sorry i cant tell you how to fix it, but from having that issue with other patches like the painKiller one, thats the problem ..One thing that just came to mind is when you installed the game, did you change the default directory path? when i installed mine i just highlited the C:. and changed it to E: and left the rest alone..just a thought

Yeah I kept the default path. Though it installed in Program Files\Far Cry. While googling some info I found the folder Program Files\Ubisoft\CryTek\Far Cry. I tried changing the path, no go.
I can't even move the game to C cuz it's so damned big. Windows, installed programs, and Far Cry won't fit in 5 GB :/.
This is really pissing me off . When 1.2 gets re-released (or 1.3, whichever they're doing) I really wanna be able to check out SM2b :/.

You could try uninstalling the game then re-install it, it will ask you if you want to save your save games so you wont lose them. or you can try just doing a Repair, if you go to the windows control panel, add/remove programs, farcry, it will give you options Modify, repair, uninstall..i would try the repair first..

So if you have to format or reinstall Windows for some reason, you don't have to worry about backing up tons of crap. All you lose is some of your programs, and Windows.

A good amount of the programs, yes, but I keep all installation files of programs I download in a certain folder so I don't need to go get them again.

Hmm
I tried looking through the registry for a simple "Install Directory" key for FarCry, but I came up with nothing. I suggest reinstalling the game.
You should have no problems with different partitions, because I install it on a different directory as well.
A lot of people create Windows partitions because it's easier to manage. All you need to do is format that one partition and install the OS back on it and everything else in intact. Yes, you have to reinstall some applications and stuff, but if you install it into the same existing directory some settings are brought back. Opera and MYIE2 are two examples of this. As for me, I have a CD which installs the minor programs for me in the C:\ drive and any other program I install manually goes to the F:\. It's for the sake of organization if anything.
