call of duty problems- please help

hello all,my favorite game is call of duty,i have been playing for over a year now on two different machines with a handfull of new os installs and on a complete custom pc.i have been running the game on this machine for a few months with no probs,then i set up a intel raid 0 array and reinstall everything.then i am setting up my ingame options and all is well till i exit the game and restart,i went back in to the game options and noticed all my previous choises have reverted to default,draw hud,downloading,sync frames,show blood,these all go to just the oposite of my choice,everytime.
i am running all latest drivers,chipset,raid,gpu,sound card.and i am not running the game in safe mode.and i am running 1.4 patch,but it messes up even with stock install,so that isnt it.

i called activision and they had me email them the config files but i think they are scratching there heads about this.the game runs fine,great fps and no crashes.i cant draw fps or change my max fps on top of the options issue.probably cause of the draw hud option reverting to no?

By reinstall everything do you mean a hard drive reformat?

hello,yes,i am on a fresh install of xp home sp1,all updates and hotfixes applied.the only thing different about this install and my old install that the game options worked correctly on,is that i set up raid.activision says this could not cause this so i dont know what else it could be.they are examining my config files,and are supposed to get back with me tomorrow,but i know how that usually goes.any input would be apreciated.later

have you installed the 1.4 patch

and you know you can just edit the config's manually

hello all,yes i am running 1.4 patch and if i edit the config file the game changes it back to default,wierd.it is the hud option and blood option and sync every frame option,and allow downloading option.it is doing it on a fresh install of windows and game with latest patches for all.thx

hello,activision had me go though practically every file today and check to see if they were read only.this prob makes me want to throw my pc at my wife.the only thing different is my raid setup,and i dont see how the raid drivers could mess with a game installation.it is probably something so stupid that i will have to make up a story to save face,LOL.looks like i will have to break one of my rules and reformate.later

Did you add "monkeytoy 0" to your script or SP shortcut? Just curious.. it may fix something I don't know. (Kinda stabbing at things here)

You may want to try this as well:

In your config file:

Seta cg_drawfps "1"

seta sets the command every time the script is ran.

Tip: Open the script in WordPad. It displays it much nicer.

hello no style,i wish i would have known about wordpad showing the config file in a column,it would have been easier to find out that cg_drawfps does not exist for some reason.i have always drawn fps from the ingame console and set max fps in the config file.but since this install i have not been able to,the console says invalid command.the game is doing this before i even get into the console and config file to do anything,plus all the other options have me stumpt aswell.thx for your input and please keep it coming if you have any ideas,thx for your time,later

Hoho~ Hmm.. Invalid command huh? Did you type the command with the slash? I believe cg_drawfps doesn't exist in the script, because it's default 0 and doesn't need to be in the script. If you want it on and stay on you might have to set it in the script with the seta thing I mentioned.

In Console:

/cg_drawfps 1

That should work.

However, in the script the following options should work.

This applies to both MP (Config_mp.cfg) and SP (config.cfg) scripts.

First search for these commands and if they don't exist add them to the end of the script.

seta cg_blood "1"
seta cg_drawfps "1"
seta cg_swapinterval "1" <--VSYNC on 0 for off
seta cg_displayrefresh "75" <-- sets the refresh rate to the specified number
seta com_maxfps "75" <--- sets max fps. Usually the same as the refresh rate if VSYNC is on.
seta cl_allowDownload "1" <-- Allows download

hey nostyle,when i try saving these commands in the config file,should i just save as text?the game says if i save this way it will not be in the format of the config file,what ever that means.thx again

Glad to see that the problem is fixed now. It was all script related. I guess when you typed them in or something they didn't written to the script. All I did was add the commands and their result you wanted into the script itself.

hello nostyle,thx for all the help last month.dsl back up!!!during the time off i did some research on this issue.i had just set up my raid when this problem started,but who would have suspected this.but when i installed mohaa after a fresh reformate i had the same problem with this game,except i was accually getting an error when trying to config the game"Loading MFC Application Error".so i called activision with no results.but i looked through some forums and found that other people have this same problem with both games and are all running raid 0 setups.activision and ea games say deal with it or loose the raid.

PS:i found a fix for cod,all i had to do is copy the main folder from disk 2 into the install folder and all options are now working.for some reason durring the install of the game things are not getting copied correctly.only if you are running raid.WIERD.thx again
