Farcry Question (quickie)
Been playing the demos of this game for a few days.
Thinking of getting the whole game. Just one question...
Does the full game all take place on an island?
If not...getting it today.
If every level is on a friggin island setting...blah.
Don't care about the Multiplayer aspects...

The quick answer to your question is yes.
HOWEVER, this is NO reason why you should not pick up this AMAZING game!
Perhaps you could let us know why it is that the "one island" idea is detering you from buying the game, but here are some responses to some common issues that people have:
- In addition to the "beach" setting, there are many various indoor settings, as well as some more jungle settings in addition to the beach settings.
- The island is HUGE, and you can go anywhere. Although the game has a set of objectives that you must complete, you can actually go anywhere on the island that you want. There are no "invisible walls" or anything like that.
Let me know if there's anything I can do to convince you to buy this game, because it is so amazing that I'd hate to see someone miss out on it for any reason.

You two seem sold on it...
I might get it or something else....
Any other of these more cerebral shooters for recommend out there...?
I like variety of locations and missions. 30 missions walking around on a beach...making the enemy
take the wrong path...machete to the back of the head...*!!Swack....snick!!...shhhhhhhhh*
would just get boring to me real quick.

I do that’s why I haven’t gotten it yet I rarely play a game single player through usually just play multiplayer. Once I figure out the bots and weapons it’s too easy. No fun beating bots, but real people that’s an accomplishment. I hear the multiplayer is weak.

multiplayer is like halo w/o the cool physics...its big, and pretty, and you get vehicles...but the physics are more like Quake or Doom then halo

I wanted a snow level
I love snow levels. Do I dare say...Snow levels are "cool"?
P.S - The game has a lot of bugs, depending on how you play. If you just go forward and don't do anything "out of the ordinary". Like wait out a fire fight.. or shoot the people coming down the lines on a helicopter.. Then the game is great. I discovered way too many bugs, but I was still enticed to go on playing. Oh yes, the graphics are pretty~

That's quite a POS game you have there.
The only thing good about it would be Jon St John (Duke Nukem) doing the voice of the main protagonist.
Otherwise, the game is utter poo methinks... Not to be mentioned in the same sentence as awesome FarCry!

Snow levels, IN A TROPICAL SETTING? Palm Trees, paradise-like water and volcanoes. No place for a snow level. Actually, had the developers tried to fit such a level into the game it would just have seemed like they were trying too hard to satify everyone.
FarCry is hardly famous for its bugs and/or memory leaks. Not mentioned in any review I've read, nor have I encountered any such thing playing the game!

Wait a sec, I've done both of those things, and things happen just like they should.
If you shoot guys coming down from a rope from a helicopter, he falls... what's wrong about that?
And waiting out a firefight? What happens then that's wrong?
Neither of these things caused the game to do anything that seemd out of the ordinary to me...

Don't waste your money.
Well, maybe that's not fair. I didn't like this game but many did. Why don't you give the demo a try and decide based off of that? The game is all in the island setting, yes, but there's a fair amount of variety in the game.

A _very_ small amount of ppl didn't like the actual game (read: NOT the demo). And no, the game is not all in that island setting but to say more would be to spoil it for anyone who's got such a great adventure ahead.

You don't think there is skiing in the Hawaiian Islands?? You are wrong. There's also skiing in Africa- therefore snow. They could have a really tall mountain in the game with icecap- I guess we'll have to wait for FarCry II, which I'm sure is half done already.
-------------Skiing and Snowboarding in Hawaii-------------
Mauna Kea (Hawaiian for 'white mountain') is a 13,796' (4205 meter) volcanic mountain whose summit sometimes gets a skiable/boardable mantle of snow. There are no lifts, no grooming, no resort, but a road goes to the summit to serve the dozen or so world class observatories located at the summit.....

Oh, And I think FarCry is more enjoyable the faster PC you have.. Mines just barely enough with 512mb ram and 128mb video card- even though it's fast enough, the ram limitation causes slowdowns if IQ settings are set too high which it frustrating. If you get this game, get at least 1gig ram, 768 minimum, 9700p minimum if you want to use AA and AF with other in-game IQ settings raised more than minimum...

Hew why not, that would be cool, and they could do it very realistically too. Low gravity, slow moving dust, the rocket ride there.. Interesting idea! I guess you could be going after bad guys trying to litter on the moon or something
