I use an MS bluetooth mouse, and personally I like alot of sensitivity on my mice, like my motorbikes, hair trigger !

I started off with going for very high while playing the original Quake, where it was oftenly all about tight quarters fighting. But then with Quake 2 and the appearence of the railgun on open maps as well as many other games coming out, I adjusted more and more towards lower sensitivities. After a while I also switched from non-accelerated to having some acceleration on, to allow for faster rotation when needed. Back when playing the original Quake I reasoned that it would be easier for the hand-to-eye coordination to perfect itself in a non-accelerating environment, but have later concluded that the mind adapts just as easily to having acceleration on if you only keep playing with the same setup for a while.
Pick a config that feels okay and then stay with it for a long time to let it sink in.

My mousing area is somewhat limited, so I have settings fairly high, but not too excessive. My sensitivitity "rule" is at least 180 degree view change when mouse is slid all the way across mat.

i use the standard windows speed, and i usually tweak the games to use about the same movement speed. i use a trackball, so i dont need excessive sensitivity to turn quickly, and i can still make precise movements without overshooting...it is a pain in the ass to get used to tho...also makes my thumb hurt after a while.

In half life + it's mods my sensitivity is 15.1.
I typically play with a very high sensitivity where a flick of the wrist can move you in a complete circle. I can't stand having to pick up the mouse over and over again, wolfenstein 3d ruined that for me years ago when I first started to use a PC haha.

i use a high sensitivty - move the mouse a little coz i got a small desk
my friend practically throws his mouse across the desk, rather amusing to watch if you're not used to it

Lower the better
For me, the lower the better for FPS games. But for other types of games it depends.

I like high sensitivty, but it's nice to be able to adjust on the fly with my razor 2100.
