I dont normaly do this with FPS`s but i just have to say wait untill the first time you see the night time effects ohhh my god the water lol the water effect have got to be the best i have ever seen.....

and with those HUNTERS (monsters) gives you a real slice of what we all missed in halflife.,

also the Soundtracks are awsome the enviromental indoor lighting and shadows is the best i have ever seen
its so real you wont beleave your eyes.

speaking of smoke effects and hazeness there awsome.... best again i have ever seen.....

also the flashligh is awsome when your indoors and out.

the handglider wow thats another story alltogether WOW facter goes through the roof.

and when your getting bombed ect if you get a direct hit or just beside you , your vision goes impaired
very very cool thing aswell we all remember the first game to have that in it and that was COD.

well anyway give everything about this game rocks so buy it.

i just wanted to post a little more info becuse i think i have found the game of this centuary to date.

Which rendering modes do you guys like..I prefer "Cold" myself.

I have everything set to "very high" runing 2X AA /w 4x AF @ 1024x768. FPS never drops below 25. However weird point for me normally when you look out on a landscape normally your FSP drops; when you look at something close up your FPS shoots back up. On my setup it's reversed! Weird but plays great...I actually forcing myself not to play so I can enjoy it more this weekend.

Thank god a "good" game has finally been released!!!

P.S. Yes it is annoying to a point when a game looks this good you just want to walk around and explore.

I bought the game yesterday (thanks god it comes on DVD instead of 34 CD

and I'am runnig everything at the highest detail possible @ 1280x768x32 and get about 40-100 fps inside and 20-60 fps outside, In my control panel I have all the texture sliders and true form to max but on the AA & AF setting I have on application preference. The games runs OK, sometimes when there is a lot of foliage and a lot going on on the screen my fps drops down to about 20-25 fps. This is great game, the best game I played in years, I just love the attention to detail like insects flyng,birds and the water is the best I ever seen in any game to date. When you shoot someone in the water they just float and blod is sipping out, thats new.

This game is class, finally a reason to own a dx9 video card!

If anyone is interested, it runs fine on my system, evrything on medium bar water which is on high

My specs are:
XP 1800+ @ 2000+
512 DDR at 143 FSB
BBAti 9500 softmodded to 9700 @ 340/320 on stock cooling

There is a slight lag, as I think the sounds are being fetched off the HDD which causes it to juddr occasionally (usually when shooting someone for the first time on a level). Other problem i'm having is a slight mouse acceleration, but having installed the XP no accel reg fix its fine.
Cant wait to upgrade my CPU and wack my VGA silencer on this badboy, then it will be even sweeter!

Well i have the renderer set to paradise aswell .

i have my aa and af set to aplication prefrence. and all sliders on MAX includeing TrueForm.

1280x1024 all ingame settings at MAX apart from smoke i have at High.
AA in game is set to LOW
AF ingame is maxed at 4x

i get good fps ingame and the funny thing is when im out on the boats or looking at the water my fps jump higher lol normaly would go down on such a thing but no they go higher.

only time i drop a little is when im in the thick jungle

also little problems when first starting a map are.

stutters when shooting for the first time.
Stutters when starting a map for the first time :goes away after 10 seconds.

thats it lol

well who ever does not have this game better get it as its the best game anyone has played

i should have Splinter cell Pandora tommorow though the post from preordering
so i will make a splinter cell thread tommorow to tell you guys if its compaires to the eye candy and gameplay this game has.

Why even waste performance on AA when you have res set that high. 1600x1200 is so high, You don't need the Anti-Aliasing.

First time around, playing the game, I used the default render mode. Now I'm trying cold.

There are 20 levels in the game, so it's really no CoD.

I envy you guys who haven't finished this one first time around yet. I only have realistic left now. ^^

over all the game has 20 hours + if you rush it.
and trust me your not going to rush this game lol you will spend part of 3 hours just looking hehe. and thats before you actualy play it

i cant beleave the quality of the intro either WOW its use a matrix styleee intro with reverse changeing and forward changeing interlaced motion

again good game lol i cant say it enough times

also here is a little spoiler wellnot much of one anyway.
when you get into the labs its HALFLIFE all over again with hunters tracking you down guys in bio suits

here is a little tip....

that hatchet is your best weapon agenst hunters this knife slashed through em like butter though a knife

Whoa, just playing through it the second time (this time w/ the bought original hehe) and I noticed something funny. Upon starting lvl15 (catacombs), my water detail changed to "custom". Anyone else noticed this? Might be a built in performance saver or something... heh strange

From teh graphics to the sounds to the play mechanics, this game rocks! The best thing is this is well-optimized for my current hardware where I can run the game at 4xAA, 8xAF Perf and still crank up all the details to Very High at 1024x768 and not have any slowdowns!

Well worth the money.

I think the render mode of 'Paradise" looks a litttle too bright on color, however the "Cold" and "Improved" video render themes are very nice. I dont understand the intro though, I have watched it over and over and still dont understand it. It's unbeliebable to watch tho. Tonight I shall make some Far Cry Movies and add some thumpn beats to it and upload for you guys.

Can someone briefly tell me why I am on the island, who i am and who the hot chickie is? **wink, wink**

Funky, I doubt you really need AF either actually... Not that it impacts on performance that much anyways.

I noticed myself that AF made the water look a lil weird on a distance, so I shut it off (Set it to '1'). And I like cold as well... real cool, but it makes it look so dark and scary... It's scary enuff methinks.

Short run of the story: You are a former elite navy seals whatever, currently running your own cruise shop somewhere in the pacific. The girl you see in the intro is a customer that, w/o spoiling too much, You're trying to find.

Don't you agree its a helluva cool intro tho?

again wow this game is HUGE i mean realy HUGE.

its taken me the better half of the day none stop playing lol and im only on lvl 13i think called Boat lol

dam i freaked totaly out when i turned a valve and the room stated filling up with water LOL and when that awsome tune kicked in made me go all hyper

the thermal nightvision phisics are awsome....

the intro is flashbacks aswell. it starts with his cruise ship blowing up and then goes matrix on your ass and backtracks
then plays normal up to the point where the cruise boat blows up
you also get flashbacks of the HUNTERS

anyone watched the movie JURASSIC PARK well your going to be getting a full view of what its like when monsters are all over you twitching like little mofo the jump radius of those things is unbeleavable lol you will shit sticks hehe.

ohh and wait untill you get to sniper ally that is hard as nails to pass but there is a tip that im not going to say LOL
you will figure it out

then wait untill you see your first TIRANT remember resident evil had one will this one is WOW there is a rocket launcher metal scetched into the tirants right arm..... and when he see`s you he yells out a totaly scary feet of rage that would freak anything out
allso the little hunters as scared of it wich just goes to show how scary these things are....

i will forget what i said above in a post where this game is about 20 hours.
its more like 30 hours.

and if your like some people and only play for 2 hours at a time on your pc
your realy going to be at it all week to complete this master peice.

also there are geneticly inhanced human hunters where they have great skill at running and shooting more than the normal humans they have one skill thats hard to detect and you need thermal vision to see them but when you pop a shell into them
you break there invisibility

also if you look close with out thermal vision you can make them out if you squint
look for like water ripples like they where reflecting on a mirror that what they look like when your trying to lock on to them with out thermal vision.

trust me guys this game has everything.

its even got what we have all seen in the doom 3 images of the toilets and blood and bodys and the tiles all shiny with nice reflections and the shadows
are the best i have ever seen also the lighting is ohh im not even going to go into the detail wait untill you see the lighting
in the LABS and COOLER levls

and one other thing the ingame cinimatic movies are well put it this way the WOW facter goes through the roof.
and the out of game Cinimatic movies are awsome in every respect.

i hope you guys liked reading this but i have so much respected for this little unknown german developer.
he realy did shock us all with this game.

just a quick note to say i got the game...i have all graphical settings maxed (except AA and AF) at 1024x768 and it runs at high fps....anyway cant talk...must go and play again....

ViRuS2k DriverHeaven Extreme Member Join Date: Mar 2003 Location: Uk Posts: 8,343 Rep Power: 57 System Specs	UPDATE : lol again wow this game is HUGE i mean realy HUGE. its taken me the better half of the day none stop playing lol and im only on lvl 13i think called Boat lol dam i freaked totaly out when i turned a valve and the room stated filling up with water LOL and when that awsome tune kicked in made me go all hyper the thermal nightvision phisics are awsome.... the intro is flashbacks aswell. it starts with his cruise ship blowing up and then goes matrix on your ass and backtracks then plays normal up to the point where the cruise boat blows up you also get flashbacks of the HUNTERS anyone watched the movie JURASSIC PARK well your going to be getting a full view of what its like when monsters are all over you twitching like little mofo the jump radius of those things is unbeleavable lol you will shit sticks hehe. ohh and wait untill you get to sniper ally that is hard as nails to pass but there is a tip that im not going to say LOL you will figure it out then wait untill you see your first TIRANT remember resident evil had one will this one is WOW there is a rocket launcher metal scetched into the tirants right arm..... and when he see`s you he yells out a totaly scary feet of rage that would freak anything out allso the little hunters as scared of it wich just goes to show how scary these things are.... i will forget what i said above in a post where this game is about 20 hours. its more like 30 hours. and if your like some people and only play for 2 hours at a time on your pc your realy going to be at it all week to complete this master peice. also there are geneticly inhanced human hunters where they have great skill at running and shooting more than the normal humans they have one skill thats hard to detect and you need thermal vision to see them but when you pop a shell into them you break there invisibility also if you look close with out thermal vision you can make them out if you squint look for like water ripples like they where reflecting on a mirror that what they look like when your trying to lock on to them with out thermal vision. trust me guys this game has everything. its even got what we have all seen in the doom 3 images of the toilets and blood and bodys and the tiles all shiny with nice reflections and the shadows are the best i have ever seen also the lighting is ohh im not even going to go into the detail wait untill you see the lighting in the LABS and COOLER levls and one other thing the ingame cinimatic movies are well put it this way the WOW facter goes through the roof. and the out of game Cinimatic movies are awsome in every respect. i hope you guys liked reading this but i have so much respected for this little unknown german developer. he realy did shock us all with this game. well meby not all but certainly me at least.

I have cancelled all arrangements with the gf tonight, so its just me and a slab of southern comfort and coke Mmmwwuaaaa I shall try putting the game on "Cold" render mode too.
