Default Post XBOX vs GAMECUBE graphics chip, Which is better? here is an insight

Yo guys,
This post is to educate and not to judge
What you have with the xbox is essentially a DX8 machine, so if you can afford a PC and C compiler, you're done; the port to Xbox is arguably free. If you look at the Xbox architecture, it's basically a unified memory system. That means there's one pool of memory for everything.Compared to the Xbox the gamecube has 4 to 5 times the memory bandwidth. Graphics is basically a memory bandwidth problem; you can never have enough. So that alone should allow developers to do more on GameCube. On top of that, the Xbox chip has to share memory with the CPU, which cannot tolerate latency. Whereas the GameCube was set up to behave deterministically, so developers can expect consistent performance. So in essence the gamecube can produce equal or better visuals and it is only limited by not having the xbox's harddrive

In every multi-system game I've seen, the Xbox has had slightly better graphics than the Cube, with the PS2 in last place. You can debate memory architectures all you want, but real world tests are where it's at.

It's really hard to compare the Xbox and Gamecube's hardware since they're so completely different. It's like comparing apples to oranges. Both systems have incredibly great graphics power.

Yes your right, in these early stages it is to hard to say m8. If you look at Metroid Prime well it certainly does look better than Halo. One of the main problems I think the xbox is going to suffer from in it's Pc architecture is resolution which is considerably lesser than the 800 x 600 displayed by the cube. Infact the max you'll get out of the xbox without HDTV or a proper VGA adapter is 640 x 480. Halo rez is 350 somethin by 200 something. That is pretty low and hence the jaggies. I think what people fail to realise is, because the xbox is based on this PC architecture then it is limited in how far the hardware will go. When you look at the ps1 and it's early games and then you look at MGS 1 they look as if they are from different systems Like conkur's bad furdy on N64. Now the question is can this console compared by today's computer hardware standard's (Xbox specs being that of a mid range pc) still maintain it's lead? I dont want to start a flame war ..lol as I know this is a fragile topic..lol I say TIME will tell
Oh and believe it or not this is all sony's fault for adverting their console based on it's hardware (emotion chip) rather than on games. What is important is the games as that is what a games console is for DUH!...lol
