Awful Screeching and Slowdown w/ Far Cry Demo
I downloaded the first far cry demo about a week or so ago, and just tried it out yesterday. If i jump out of the boat at the begining i get a terrible screeching sound (sounds like when you hold an open mic too close to speakers) and then about 10 seconds later the game starts moving in slow motion and i hear no sounds. It happens everytime i jump out of the boat at start, and it happened a couple other times just running around on shore. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I was getting the same sort of sound problems with the Painkiller demo. Didn't get any slowdown mind you and I didn't have any issues with the Farcry demo. Don't know what caused it and I never got it sorted even after re-installing drivers for the card and re-installing the demo.
EDIT: I would say that your first course of action would be to remove and re-install the drivers and maybe even your mobo's chipset drivers.

I'm suprised that no-one else came back with similar problems.

Actually I heard it a few times, I didnt comment because at the time I was overclocking so high I figured it was due to that. then when I lowered the overclock I was so bored with it I had already deinstalled it.

I had the mic connection effect a couple of times but i didn't gave it much importance as the demo has some kind of Beta state feeling

its pretty ropy, trees floating in mid air in sections and its not as smooth as it could be yet. im hoping they fix all the issues before release. Its a nice looking game and looks like it will be alot of fun to play, im just not overly excited about it.

Im glad im not the only one w/ probs :-) I dont know if ill get the game or not the demo kinda scared me off lol. I was going to try to contact UBI w/ the problem, but the way their tech support is w/ ravenshield I dont think it would help much.

Mine's fine at 1280*1024 (or was that 960 - not sure) running on P4 2.4b 512Mb DCDDR and 9800Pro. Plus 2 120Gig SATA drives in RAID0
