XIII: Loading Screen Issue Work Around

I've been doing some "experimenting" since I finally picked up a copy of this game at EB today. I kept having the issue with the game not proceeding to load the FBI level. So as mentioned in the Ubisoft PC Tech thread I tried this fix:

Open the XIII\system folder and look for the following INI files.
DEFAULT.INI and XIII.INI

Open each in turn with notepad and look for a line which says:
UseSound=TRUE
Change this line to
UseSound=FALSE

Which worked but it bugged me; what if this happens again /w another level? I knew it had something to /w the copy protection in the game, but found it rather strange disabling the sound "worked around" the problem. I went through each process and disabled it while I had the game running in a window to see if it would allow the level to load. What I found out is my anti-virus (eTrust EZ Antivirus v6.1.7.0) was the cause. I didn't want to permanently disable it so I put it in "snooze" mode which is a feature it allows you to use.

I recommend you try to turning off anything that deep scans or analyzes activity on your computer.
