Cool! Painkiller Demo -- Found Some Holy Items

They are not that easy to get to, but, I have found 3 of 4 holy items in Level 1.

OK...I'm hoping to find the 4th one soon. (EDIT: 4th one found....see below.)

The 3 I've found of the 4 so far are these:

1. Right at the beginning of the level, push the cart up to in front of the rickety overhang on the left. There's a window on the 2nd floor that's glowing brightly like there's a fire inside. You need to get the cart positioned so that you can 'bunny' hop onto the cart and then onto the rickety boards and then into the window of that room. This one should be easy enough to find from this description.

2. This one, I'll likely have to post a screenshot of its location because it's an area (also on the 2nd floor) of a building that has a broken corner. You have to once again get up onto some rickety overhang and then shimmy on the ledge and then into the open corner of the building.

.......

3. This one is pretty easy to describe: In the alley where the coffins are....the ones that eventually break open with undead....there's a balcony above some of them leaning against the building. Blow up the barrels up there and get the balcony to fall onto the leaning coffins. You need to bunny hop and go up to the top of that leaning balcony. Now, look across the alley and at the window to the left. There's something glowing in there. You'll have to leap across from the balcony onto one of the extruding boards and into that window.

4. Still looking
EDIT: The 4th one is in some ways similar to the first one. When you come to a courtyard with a broken down wagon and a rickety overhang, you have to get onto the rickety overhang and make your way over to another glowing window in the corner. This one is even harder than the first one. The other two aren't so bad.

Nice, hadn't found the first one. Wonder what they do, give extra gold perhaps. One can buy bonus cards for it in between levels. (wierd but somewhat cool feature)

Hmm.. is this the courtyard where the gallows are?.. those two horned guys in robes are in that courtyard.

Level 5 has a Holy Item in the 3rd courtyard if you look up and behind you, it's on the roof. Can't figure out how to get up there.. There are ladders on the sides of the building but they lead up to know-where.

No, the small courtyard for the #4 area is before the gallows area. The rickety overhang is to the right just past a broken wagon. As you approach this one there are undead that first appear from the left behind corner of the building. The wagon and some explosive barrels are on the right of the courtyard entrance.

What you refer to as Level 5, that's actually Level 3 in my demo, but it's a few sessions into it. I've been up to both of those lighted areas and can't get in for some reason. What you have to do to even get up there is to climb the ladder....but not all the way to the top. You have to be able to see the recessed area and then do a forward jump to shimmy up to it. Then you have to do a turning jump to get into each subsequent recessed area. If you hit the shallow one you'll fall to the ground again. So far, I've gone all the way to the end of each of these ladder approaches but haven't discovered the key to getting into them. I thought I'd have to somehow break the 'window' or something but it's just not working. I'll keep trying, though.

Opps.. I did mean level 3 not 5. It took me 16 mins to get up to the first one with that damn wagon. Now that I've kinda figured out how the wagon works..its a lot easier. I had found only 2 before I found your post. The one in the cracked corner and the one near the coffins.

I'm still working on getting through level 3 without using armor while on the second hardest difficulty and its a pain. One time a stray firework killed me at the last moment. Sigh.

BTW, in Level 3, after you leave the arena, try going around and climbing those walls that are leaning against the center building. You can go up onto the perimeter wall of the center building but be careful not to fall into the inside of it. Otherwise, you'll have to drop into the arena again and come back around.

Anyway, once you're up on the perimeter you can leap over to the upper platforms and move around. There are two chests of gold coins on one area 'behind' the arena that I can shoot, but haven't successfully gotten to yet. I'm still trying to figure out the correct approach.

AND, one other thing: Farther into this level there's a 'floor spring platform' that pushes you into the fracture ceiling above. I'm still trying to get the right angle and movements to get up through the crack in the ceiling. There's something up there.

Leaning pillars path:
Yeah.. I've been up and all around that dome and can't find any 'secret' spots. There are some invisible walls that prevent you from jumping over to the "dirt" area. Very suspicious area up there. I did see those two chests on the top of the next zones building.. but again.. can't figure out how to get up there. Maybe from the other side? When you first enter that zone one of the two pillars crumbles and falls. Wonder if we can shoot down the other one(?)

Found the jump pad as well..but keep hitting my head on the ceiling. Those holes don't line up well with the pad. I've tried moving the pad around as well. This might be the first step in getting up onto the roof area and once we figure this out.. I think the other secrets will be more obvious. (I hope)..

These secrets are soooo difficult I don't imagine many will even bother to find them I'm afraid.

I've come very close to succeeding from that jump pad. The secret seems to be that you have to be on the run at the correct angle so that the leap pushes you toward the narrow crack in the ceiling. I've come SOOO close a few times.

Aha....I got all those gold coins from the two treasure chests in Level 3.

EDIT: About the gold Ladders in the courtyard of Level 3 -- I finally decided that there is NO way to get into those glowing windows. I've tried and tried and never could do it. Sooo, I finally found a forum where they are discussing the secret places and special things. We're NOT SUPPOSED to go into any of the windows. However, we do need to use the ladder to the left as you enter this area (right one if you're facing both ladders) and then go around and leap onto the pillar, across the pavilion and on over to the the power up that's suspended up there. So, that's what it's all about.

EDIT 2: I FINALLY got the launch pad in Level 3 to get me up through the crack in the ceiling. It was pure persistence a luck that finally worked. If you get up there, Don't destroy the barrel until you get the artifact.

Also, in the very final room, when you've taken care of all the undead and you see that white glowy thing in the center.....Don't Leave Yet! On the far upper balcony area there's another secret room with another artifact.

AND.....once you've completed all the requirements, ALL the blocks to the previous levels are removed. You can move around freely from area to area now.

Here's a link to a photo walkthrough for ALL the secrets including some short movies showing how to accomplish the harder stuff.

I hadn't thought of riding the barrels up..
